Should be a good combo, Dom had some cabs with Porn Mk1 12" horns and Limmer 042 which he spoke highly of.

i ve been using the limmer042/12 in horn underneath.good combo.takes a while getting the delays right,as crossed at 500,if you get it wrong,it can make vocals less pure(split across two drivers).also, the limmer has a very clean sound, which can take a while getting used to if you are used to 'crunchy' snares.

http://img245.imageshack.us/i/lim042.jpg/"> hi,i built the crossover recommended on the speakerstore site.it works very well.before that,i used an ultradrive, and ended up crossing around 2-3k,but found a 5way active rig too complicated.

of course it is specially when you use 1way that you was not supposed too...i don't understand why you choose the limmer 312 indeed of limmer 085.
312 according to the limmer website go only from 300hz and up, the 085 go enough down to meet a sub so you would have only 4way with it.

How does your limmer keepup with the 12" , cause we was thinking of 2x12" an the limmer on top of that. you get me? 2mt section per Limmer 042 , we are just waiting for the limmers

I've been wondering about this combo for a while. Isn't the dispersion of the 042 much wider than that of the MT122 12" -section? Just off the top of my head...
Clean looking cabs Francis!

Not really - I used to run mark 1 porn horns with limmer 042 tops which is a similar combination
The limmer combo plays down so low (500hz) that the 12" section isn't really directional at all in it's bandwidth...

Did a few jobs without any back box , and notice that the sound from the 6.38 was very low at 15-20 metres so am making some moulds different sizes and will let you know what size sounds best,

When I did my Limmer/Porn horns the back box for the 6.38 was as small as they could possibly be.
The back box was basically the same internal diameter as the baffle cutout and the same depth as the driver. The back of the back box was an aluminium plate that acted as a heatsink for the magnet.
We did some modelling of the driver and horn in Akabak and it wanted a tiny rear chamber, of the order of 0.5litres...
I'm probably going to stick them up in the for sale section at some point if anyone's interested...

Thank you! That's what I was thinking also. The limmer p2 and p3 designs (speakerstore.nl) just have some bigger enclosures behind ciare that confused me a bit.

I’ve been playing around with the limmer combination for a
while now. Small rear chamber volume is definitely the way to go. Sounds sweet
in short throw applications.

12" run from 140-around 950-1000 the Ciare 6.38MR3 runs from 900-3k then BC. DE25 does, the rest you can always fine tune from there if you don´t like the sound .

Nice, thanks :)
Been thinking about the mt limmer combo but just weighing up costings and things :s
What's your opinion on the cab? Would you recommend it?
|
Posted By: Father-Francis

it´s a good cab just don´t put three per side in a thin room cause the top spreads quite much. two per side max.

the limmer 308 aint exactly new at all afaik.. unfortunately they are too shallow/small to meet "usual" kicks properly imo - i would go with Bens/Bees take on "porn horns"/"SP12s" if i would consider such a 4way setup..
