Hi,

Im a new member on this forum but I have been visiting it for a while now. I specialise in purchasing and tendering/contract negotiation.

I am looking to have a quantity of 1850 horns built by a local cabinet makers, I personaly require 4 units and in order to reduce unit commission and take advantage of quantity discount I am looking to offer you guys the opportunity to buy cabs through me.

I am offering a fully loaded and specced cabinet, the unit will come on 5" proffesional tour grade castors, will have either cut and routered or metal bar handles depending on general prefference and will have a twin speakon NL4 connector plate on the access hatch. I will offer grills but at an additional cost that will be negotiated with each party individualy depending on requirments. The cabs will be loaded with either Void Acoustics V18-1000 or PD 1850 units depending on individual preference (as a guide the PD loaded cabs will incurr a £70 premium over the Void loaded cabs).

The company I am using specialises in cabinetry and has almost 100 specialists (cabinet makers etc) working for them at their head office in Swindon, Wiltshire.

I am awaiting a costing on 10, 20, and 50 cabinets as a single production run. As soon as I get these prices I will post then on here and will begin taking orders should any of you be interested.

**Just to let you all know I am attempting to contact Rog in order to agree a royalty per cab with him. This will of course effect the final price of the units and I will explain further at a later date (when I post prices!)

Regards

Damian

P.S.

I may also look at doing this again in the future on other designs. If you are interested in having any design made up let me know and if enough interest developes for a design I will cost it and move forward from there.

Regards

Damian

i think maybe alot of people would be sceptical and rather buy the loony bins from Pro audio parts, but good luck

Glad you've thought of that. Seems some other recent posters have neglected that element when offering to build cabs for profit

good idea but i WOULD definitely buy the looney bin even if it worked out £100 more expensive.  The red epoxy finish is worth that alone!!!

as echoed above, don't mean to wee on your chips but it's already being done. Are you aware of the http://www.proaudioparts.co.uk/looneybin.asp - Looney bin?
I thought i'd post a link to make it easy.

Hey,

In response to the above posts: -

  1. These cabs will be finnished in an Acid Catalysed Enamel @ 10% gloss (Talk to Turbo Sound and Funktion One) This will have a medium Texture and will be applied over Traff Surf 3 Primer. This finnish will withstand any touring or install aplications. The colour will either be a dark Blue or Red depending on general consensus.
  2. Im not in this to make money, by organising this whole thing I am simply looking to suitably reduce the cost of my cabs. The more you buy the cheaper they get!.
  3. Bearing in mind the finnish of these cabs is going to be on a par with the loony bins in terms of cabinet build quility, paint finnish and of course the driver I would like to add that these cabs will cost at least £100 less than the loony bins otherwise I wouldnt be bothering!.

If you have any more querries please feel free to air them.

I would also like to mention that I am already receiving querries for these cabs through PM. Remember that the more of you that order these, the cheaper they are gonna get!.

I will be posting prices within the next week, tops.

Regards

Damian

Soundsystemdan, thanks for your earlier post. I understand you were just pointing out a fact, it was a useull comment though as I didnt think of explaining what im offering in comparison to the loony bin!.

i think though that if your gonna make 20 to 50 cabds you should def square things with rog first or is you cant get in touch with him maybe donate a certain percentage to charity.... only seems fair to me.

If I am unable to get hold og Rog I will probably add £20 to the cost of each cab and set this aside for a couple of months just to make sure I have given Rog plenty of time to respond. After this time I will donate it to the Prospect Hospice in Swindon and post a scan of the receipt on here.

hi, really interested in some of the 186/1850s

I am looking at getting 4 built, but i would like the price for them to be unloaded and unpainted, but with handles and a blank conection plate on the rear.

I dont know if you know but there are a pair in sc**thorpe already. Ghrahm Wood (rival sounds) has built a pair.

Good luck, keep building and be prepared to spend money RELENTLESLY!
