welcome to the scoop forum! as you seem to have already learnt, the most efficient way to get popular on there is to use the wink smiley thing.
and extra points are awarded for ignoring saul's advice, so good work!

hahaha
extra points for being able to convert to mk3 by just adding a bit of 18mm into the chamber.
you'll soon see if it's the right version - if the driver is out of control, reduce the chamber size.

yes its me Jason well i guess i didn't understand the email u send me cause i said i would be playin mostly reggae music so u say mk3 so i guess i need to put the 3/4" ply on the rear baffle to turn it to the mk3.....
this is the email u send me
Hi Jason!
Yes it was me that designed the Rhino
I’ll have a look at the spec’s for the seleniums for youRhino will be better than the S****** cab, S********* also doesn’t give away free plans
I have heard people are selling their s****** cabs and building the Rhino now, put 6 in one stack and run
I have ‘2’ in a 500 peeps capacity club
The Rhino MK3 is suited to all music, if you’re playing Reggae, Mk2 is the one
Send some pictures when you build them?
All the best

Hi everyone. Wow I feel quite intimidated posting on here! I've been checking in on various threads and getting inspired for a while and I'm nervous now cos I feel I should show you what I've done!
I was particularly inspired by Mykeys Rhino Scoops (I'm very sorry to see the plans have gone - would love a copy for personal use if they are still available...particularly since I didn't check here for a while now and didn't see all the chat about Mk2/Mk3!! Not even sure which I built now! Probably Mk1 knowing me...)
Anyway, I have discovered that building my own speakers is a pure joy to me and something I intend to learn as much as I can about and continue do to as often as time and budget allows! Below are some pictures of my first 'rhino' scoop. I've previously built a couple of mid boxes and piezo boxes (1 pic of a piezo box at the end), but this is the first time I've delved into the lovely world of bass bins :) Scoop 2 is already underway.

I had a bit of trouble and learned many (now obvious) lessons along the way with regard to the order in which you put the thing together. Like the pic below...I was well pleased with myself at this point, til I went to put on the rear baffle... ("how you supposed to get the f***ing drill in that gap there?!" etc)

Ready for painting. I was pretty pleased with my angle cuts, but figured a bit of sealant never goes astray.

And then I also thought I'd move away from standard black :D

The finished product. It's loaded with a 600w P Audio C18 driver

And one of my my piezo boxes

Anyway, I thought I should share it with you since you've given me nuff inspiration and motivation. Big big respects Mykey. I hope to put up some more pics over time as I build stuff, and will definitely keep reading and learning.
Bless

From my experience,(both on here and hearing them in some other mini scoops) the 18TBX100 is a proven combo that works great. But others may give you reasons to get one of the others

Hello, I'm new to this forum and have been looking for a mini scoop design. I've read around the net and the rhino mk 1-3 comes up a lot. Is there any way to give me the design? I'd like to try and build a pair.

nah they are un-necessarily stingy with scoop designs for some reason. But I am trying to identify this miniscoop and I think it might be rhino, if anyone wants to clear that up

I mean Im pretty sure what i posted is the mk2 staiper (ms18) mini scoop that a lot of people use now days. Modded might be approximation of rhino. I would maybe make it to be wider but I am a novice in this area so really not the guy to ask or pm you, sorry, hopefully someone will see your request in due time, I wouldn't hold my breath though. I'd like rhino plans too Im curious to make like a 636mm wide Staiper MS-18. You should post them here if you find adequate plans, ill do the same . heres the medium scoops from facebook

Shortman mini came out, and at the time, it was the strongest sub around, with PD1850, for it's size.
Even now, with PD1851 or 18NLW9601, 32hz from single cab, with very decent SPL, of that size, is shocking.
Before the shortman mini, no one was talking minis that could be a replacement for some full Scoops.
So I'll leave it there.

What are the outer dimensions of this shortman mini? Was a plan ever released?
|

iim pretty sure shortman mini is just this (mk1) that is 30" deep (deeper by 3 inches, some people in the scoop forum think thats a huge amount 😳 ) but its basically same design. The ms18 mk3 might be better more modern design than the shortman mini even. I think im going to go after tapped horns, insane sensitivity, but also linearity, and cooling. Better transients. Danley was one designer that actually knew what he was doing. The other best designer, Mogale, made his designs public, the shortman is a chopped down super .
