there was an enrmous w-bin plan floating about a whilst back. It looked like a vintage russian design from the text on the drawing.

Looks like it's for two 15s though. It really is absurdly massive, 2.2m long!

Has any one tried to Sim these with some modern cones?

why would you need to sim it? It has a massive horn mouth and a huge path length. It'll go low and be extremely sensitive, you don't need a computer to tell you that!
 
Simming it might be usefull to adjust the rear chamber to suit a driver you are thinking of using.

Just for comparison to modern designs.

Don't think I will be building any, since they won't fit through a standard door. Unless you cut it in half horizontally.
