I intend to soon build a pair of X15's as a pair of stand alone speakers for small parties, events and functions. generally to be used for inside for gigs or parties of maximum 150 people.

because they are intended in my case not to be coupled with subs i have decided to use two p.audio sn15mb's in each cab, rather than one, to hopefully increase the bass response. my first question is: Should u use the style of porting found in the X15? Or should i, in terms of porting, make them more like an up-scale version of the X12?

because of availability of compression drivers in australia I have been limited to a choice of a p.audio BM-D740MKII or a p.audio BM-D750 MKII. So my second question is: Would it be better having a 1.4" comp (740) in order to give more crisp high notes or would the 2" 750 be better suited to the job so i can have a lower crossover and take a bit of strain off the 15" s seeing as they will be going lower than most would run an X15?

Hopefully i will be running an active crossover with a Crown XTI 1000 powering the comps and a Crown XTI 4000 powering the 15" s.

Any help or advice would be much appreciated, also if someone can see a fundamental flaw in my plan don't hesitate to point it out.

Kindest regards, Raffe Brennan.

hi raffe

you could use slot ports either side of the horn, this would mean you could get the cab slighly more compact in height.

the other way is to use triangular ports, use say 4 bottom corners of the cab and inbetween the two 15" drivers ,a little harder to do but would look better than round ports imho
if you use this method then you would still end up with a  more compact height

hope this helps
