I still think they're volt. I think they have a roll surround and David was in the Mega circle at that time.

I'm with Tony on this one, sorry Ian! They look like Volt to me too.
But £300 for that lot works out at less than £20 per driver, not including the cabs, HF and flares. A total bargain... as long as they're all working.

now there's a killer free party suicide rig right there!  8x 15" worth of air movement, and probably over 100-103db/1w per cabinet.  id guess 800wrms per cab?

wish i had the room

Robbo, do you remember Nick Cohen. He ran AMS. Artist Monitoring Services. He specialized in cabs with multiple small speakers which were Volts.

I remember AMS from the old days Tony but the name Nick Cohen doesn't ring a bell with me but because we were so far away from London we didn't socialize as much as we should have done really but I can still remember some good old West End nights out with Peter Ross, Chris Sherwin and Cliff Campbell.

Black widow, They had volts like these and also Celestion rtt50 with a tiny lens (not like these). I did have a few many years ago, they sounded really rather good. Sold them all but for some reason I still have a pair of the lenses in my shed. (!?)

Colin they were probably ours. I used to sell 2x10 plus horn to Avitec to go above their Cerwin Vega bass cabs. We also did a 4x10 plus horn which went into the Circus Tavern in Purfleet. Those were the days.

I think that where I remember them from at one of the shows with the JE36/stroker cabs.
Used to love the Avitec stand at the shows, always had plenty of good kit (well for them days anyway) and a massive rack of KT processing stuff complete with KT analyser that would have made a  skytec cabs sound great Lol.
I Wonder whatever happened to Tony Kingsley?

That's when plasa/badem shows were the best I also remember the A.S.S stands from those shows too, great stuff and totally of of the realm's of most Dj's but I did get some in the end! (but about ten years later)

Avitec were of course the UK Cerwin vega importers back then..Hitchin in Hertfordshire if i remember? They had an excellent colour brochure around 1980,which would rival the Squire's catalogue for disco goodies.....including the entire Kremesa range of lighting, helicopters, etc.

They are absolutely and definitely volt speakers.David Lyth designed them and still going. I used to service them. The old nightmoves nightclub was full of them. worth repairing and they can take quite a lot of stick. Th celestion horn was the weakest link
