Greetings!!

I'm planning on hosting an event called Soundsystem Sound-off at a large venue in NE London on Sunday 3 July.

I have 3 sounds already, but require a fourth sound to enter this friendly four the hard way event.

Contact me on 07932998546 for more info

Unfortunately, im not paying. Each sound has to pay to enter.
Venue is a good size and can easily hold 4 sounds.
Also has 32a outlets.
No noise limitations.

An opportunity for some sounds to test your set.
This event will not be restricted to roots and culture!!

My bad!! It's actually Sunday 3rd July.
I respect that some forum members will be attending Bristol carnival.
Unfortunately, the 3rd was the only available date.

Venue can handle maybe 3 Sounds with a stack of 8, which maybe something we might consider in the future.

Entry fee of £75 for sounds to enter simply goes towards paying for venue, as it is quite large.

I agree,

Surely if you can't cover the cost of equipment, artists, promotion venue hire, etc through door takings or bar sales then you've failed as a promoter? The promoter should be the last person to get paid after the sounds, artists and venue, that is the risk of being a promoter.

The only other time I've across this is on pirate radio. Some of the smaller stations don't make enough through advertising to cover costs so each DJ pays a smal sub each week. This is usually done on the understanding that the station will get them enough bookings for events that it will cover the subs.

If the sounds are paying for a venue then should bring as much box as they like.

Gentlemen.................
.............the Event is mainly for soundsystems who may not playout regular or would like to soundcheck their system or music selection with some feedback from experienced soundman.
It's also just for a bit of fun.
It is more suited to reggae soundsystem owners and event goers who attend forum based events like Bring Back The Soundsystem in Bristol and Rice n Peas Soundcheck in south London.
Neither of these events draw a substantial crowd but due to the nature of these events, the promoters who put them on are not doing it for promotional fame but for the love of soundsystems............ Period!!!!!!!!

I DO NOT APPRECIATE SOMEONE WHO DOESN'T EVEN KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT ME QUESTIONING MY PROMOTIONAL SKILLS!

IF THIS EVENT DOESN'T INTEREST YOU THEN SIMPLY KEEP YOUR OPINIONS TO YOURSELF AND FIND ANOTHER POST TO MOAN ABOUT!!!!!

I can see why alot of people in the Pa/soundsystem game stay far away from this forum....... I have learnt alot from this forum.

I just don't like the negative side of it!!!!

Here, here Motion 54. I know the venue usually cost close to two grand to hire and you've worked hard to negotiate a rate for forum user to participate. We all have choices in life. And choose to support such events. And we should get behind these events to keep sound system alive....

There will always be other events to make money if your any good!!
