hi there if any 1 can help i have a amp that runs at 2000w a side and the plug is a normal 3 pin plug. just wanted to no if that ok to plug in to a normal house hold socket cus im not to sure ??? thanks jay |

It will be fine, I have run over 10k worth of amps from a single 13amp plug household plug socket along with decks, mixer etc and never had a problem. exactly this people always worry but is ushally fine, saying this we have clipped 32A breakers in the past but were running 3 rigs off it

Yes! Remember an amp, even a very big amp, is not a kettle or an oven, it won't draw a continuous load of 4Kw. In order to blow a 13amp fuse you would need a continuous load of 15 or 16amps or more for quite a few secs before the fuse wire melts. You're more likely to have problems with RCD/circuit breaker when you switch on. If so, try it on the oven circuit's 13amp socket, if you have 1.  ------------- "Moderation in all things, particularly moderation!" |

Covered elsewhere but here it is again
A 13a BS 1362 cartridge fuse (standard 13a plug) is designed to carry 20.8 amps for a period of 30 minutes. It will also carry 24.7 amps but is designed to fail within 30 minutes, and that's the RMS rating.
Depending on the type rating of you breaker, a 32a or 16a breaker can trip well before that little plug top fuse. |

The thread title seems to be asking if it's OK to use a 25A fuse in place of a 13A fuse in a 13A plug. If that's the case then no, you really shouldn't. Cheers
