Really excited over our punisher/xtro build. One of several annoying little problems frustrating my Xtro build. We already have puns in the shop is this buisiness over the Beyma TD-245 being discontinued. Well, we only have 1 ciare 12 sw atm because they're out of stock over here and they're expensive in the land formerly know as Europe.

A few other questions I had regarding the Xtros
Anyone got any cad files for them?
Which wire to use insides?
Anyone know a cheap place to get the xt8 horns... online they're £130 now... I know that tri-lithium crystals inside the drivers have shot up in value, but plastic is ****ing plastic!
Anyone selling any drivers or unfinished projects?
What are the exact delay times everyones?

Thanks!

Zak

Yeah they have been for a while now, think I got the last two from bluearan as well earlier this year

Yeah they seem to be the cheapest supplier. I ordered a single ciare 12sw off of them, they're out of stock till the new year.

On the td245 sureley there must be an equivalent part as people still buy and use the drivers that go with. Anyone know how to get in contact with the designers? Maybe they can help.

At the moment the XT8 horns are only available from Bluearan.  If they were plastic then then maybe they'd be cheaper but they're made from high quality fibreglass, the phase plug is strengthened with steel rods in the arms and it comes complete with a back bowl.  So not that expensive for a drop-in solution with higher performance than the original Xtro wooden flare.

Regarding the TD245, there aren't many 60x40 1" horn flares available on the market, especially compact ones. It was quite a specialist one.  Partly because to get 60x40 dispersion control properly you really need a larger mouth.

How about:

That's excellent thank you. Thanks for the info. I'm an absolute novice in speaker building.

RCF is starting to get a bit on the big side.  You don't want to be blocking up the entire output from the upper 15" driver.

Being exponential, it won't have a consistant frequency response over it's coverage angle.  It's also quite small so probably only useful from about 2.5kHz upwards.  Probably good for use with 8" drivers in compact cabs.

Anyone know how much modification will be required of the xtro to get it to fit?

Also, if the td-245 should suddenly become available, and I built two more xtros, would they place nice together?

The 164 is probably Beymas replacement for the 245, I wouldn't expect it to become available except second hand.

it's a bit taller, so it'll take up more room in the mouth in the xtro.. i'm not knowledgable enough to know if that'll interfere any more with the 15" section than the smaller horn would.

The size is quite similar, Faital Pro are offering a fair few horn flares at nice prices. We've starting stocking some of their stuff now, but finding it a little bit difficult to get a handle on which bits are the most popular. Feel free to let me know if there are any Faital bits you are interested in, it will help us decide our stocking plans in the future.

I think I would go for the smallest smooth sounding 60x40 1" horn available and adapt the box, that makes more room for the 15" horn.

It has to go down to 2,5 khz though, but I think all horns do.
Can the 8" not be crossed higher? I cross my tms-2s higher all the time, now I'm at 3,46khz

Amazing 8" horns like the F1s should go up high enough to reach a bullit, however I haven't seen this combo anywhere, I wonder why, perhaps dispersion can not be controlled well enough with a bullit.

The question might seem a bit off topic, but one day I would like try to do a phaseplug with a bullit or a horn in the middle (with a tiny bms 4540nd), It might just happen, I did quite a few phaseplugs by now, but unfortunately I don't think the xt8 horn is big enough for that. This experiment could be an adventure within itself, plug end shape affects the horn a bit.

I know this thread is old hat but would the B&C ME201 work in the xtro? It has 90x60 dispersion.
