Hi. I a few weeks back i built the 1850 folded horn(speakerplans.com) laoded with the PD 1850, only 2 days ago I built the second cabinet, But this time I loaded it with P audio's 18" LF driver. The difference is incredible, The P Audio out play the PD by far.I used an 900 watts per channel RMS @ 8 OHMS.. I found that the PD needed much more power to give the same output as the P audio. To be sure I was not hearing things, i swap them around in position and in channel, Same outcome. By this point i was been laught at by my friends, I just purchased 6 x PD'S and 8 x P audio's. even worse the PD 1850 was a cooked after 6 hours of extreme testing. Can someone tell me what is going on ?? Are you guy's bias because the PD's cost more and British ?? are you guy's getting paid by PD ?? Help. thanks |

Firstly if the PD was cooked after 6 hours use there's probably something wrong with it. I know a crew who use 6 of them (in scoops) and have reconed one of them in about 5 years. I think you'll find that if you put 1.2 -1.4k into both of the drivers, the PD would sound much better. But I think you're right in that one of the worst things about the PD driver in the 1850 horn is that it needs soooo much power to bring it to life. |

Many of the driver recomendations are now revised, often to P Audio, but the plans have not been updated with the new details. P Audio are often the driver of choice in the new Rog designs, apart from specialist Void drivers for the very low end. |

| I hope you let those drivers play for one, two days at mediocre power before you gave 'em the full blast. Those drivers NEED to work a bit to get their final parameters they are speced with. If you power them up for a long time without doing that, the drivers is kinda 'misfit' in the box and it's no wonder they can fry.... |

I just don't understand what you are saying. You say I have 8 PD 1850 drivers, where can I get them from. Sounds like you have them aready so why are you asking. Rog. |

Sounds like the Paudio driver is more optimal on that single horn that the PD. Notice you did say 'extreme' does this involve sinewaves at or below horn cutoff? or-sinewave testing at ABOVE the drivers rms rating for an extended period? excursion is sealed box level here no horn loading at all.(considering a front loaded horn with sealed rear chamber of the right volume) |
