This is box is for 2x Peavey Lowrider 18
Vb=13.5 cu ft
Fb=35 hz
F3=34.73

Luckily my dad and I have a cabinet/woodworking shop, so the build went smoothly.
No baltic birch sold in my area. (I hunted for weeks).
The ply used is 9-ply 18 mm Sandeply by Endesa (Equador) from Home Depot.
I had my doubts at first with it, but it has been GREAT only 2 SMALL voids found in 4 sheets.
Cuts and routes nicely and only about $45/sheet(4x8)

More pics to follow.

We just clamped two squares to a block. This was to help get our first three sides nice and square.
My dad is used to building cabs by himself and it is one of his tricks.
We didn't use it much as we there were two of us, but it along with that lead weight on top helped
as a counterweight to hang the cab off the table to install bottom screws.

We did make that make that jig you see on the router.

Looks effin' clean Sadler! Been trying to figure the best way to cut my 18's out and that looks perfect on the router. I was thinking something similar but you just showed me what to do, thanks!CoolCool

Nice trick with the framing squares.  I may have to use that.  I have a couple of equilateral triangles with a wide flange on two sides that allow clamps to be placed. Works great when one builds alone.

Yes.  The box was designed with Bass Box Pro and Peavey's suggested Medium box size and tuning frequency.  The box 's internal dims are 46.5 x 19 x 28.25.  The port is about 5.125 x 19 x 8.5

sorry for the delay Dub Specialist.
the cutouts in the braces are to save weight and volume and to keep the volume open.
it would be possible to just use floating braces in the cavity but much easier to work with larger single pieces.

good american drivers and american craftsmanship, love to see that.  a dual eighteen bass reflex sub built right can do some serious damage in the right hands.  what are you planning to use for the rest of the system? mids/highs..if you want to keep the peavey theme, the 44xt drivers are simply awesome for midrange to high frequency horns.

Im using EV Sx300 on tops, dont have money to invest in building tops yet, but will soon.
Would like to build 2 more of these subs as well to have 2 proper stacks for small parties

nothing at all wrong with the ev sx 300s if they are all orriginal.  rock with them on poles above the subs, with about 2 ft between top of sub and bottom of ev, and they will go a long wiay.  with eight eighteens, you'd need a pretty robust mid/high set up to go with it, and good ac current available, which in the u.s is harder and harder to find these days.  noone seems to let us tap into the pannel anymore, and on stage power is usually one 20a circuit if your lucky..

Hey discernaudio can you send me the exact measures of your gsubs? i would like to build a pair of those. Do you already tested them, how they sound?

Posted these earlier... The box 's internal dims are 46.5 x 19 x 28.25.  The port internal dims are about 5.125 x 19 x 8.5

I did of course simulate them via software pre-build to get the response I wanted, but
I have not recorded and plotted actual freq response since theyve been built.
However, they sound great!  Would build 2 more if I had the money.

Yes,   Gsubs are a  standard bass reflex box, and and all reflex boxes are direct radiating.

Would it be possible for you to design a box for me similar to yours for the Eminence Omega Pro 18"? I would like to build 8 of them...have no idea how to use the software though...

I'm about to begin building a gsub just now and I'm wondering, does it make sense to wire the 2 drivers in parallel to the one speakon port then run that through one bridged amp? Would this be the sensible way to do it?
Maybe something like 2 pd 186 in the g-sub at 8 ohm each through a bridged amp running around 3000W at 4ohm?

And these are looking well good. Nice one.

Yes, that is perfectly fine, that is the way I run mine.  It is the most simple way.

Just a thought. There is a Eminence design been around fi years 2x18" Reflex 300L Volume simple to build it was for the PS-600 , but you would to compare the t/s param's for the Omega pro...

What are they loaded with? Looks like Fane 18XB?
What is the GSub design? standard? or did you adjust volume and port tuning?

How does the hd215s sound with the g-subs?

This is something iv been thinking about for a while

Posted By: DiscernAudio
Date Posted: 04 December 2013 at 3:49pm
It sounds great.  I am still playing with the crossovers all the time.
I have done some brief system response measurements (in a room) to aid in getting flat and
avoiding phase issues, but not too thorough or outside yet.
I plan very soon to take them outside and measure each cabinet  individually, then from there
will redo complete system analysis outside so I can get an optimum xover setting and eq.
Right now I vary the xover anywhere between 70-85 Hz and have only really used LR24.
Right now the HD215 phase is inverted (as well as the top).  G sub is is normal phase.
The Gsub and top are both delayed the horn length of the HD.
Seem to mesh well like this , but could be better optimized

I was going to get hd215s at one point but boke ma828s were for sale before any 215's were iv been told they are a very good combo though
