The blue spot roughly marks where venue is located on map.

Turn right into estate and go through barrier by pressing buzzer and asking for access to Golden Palace.
Continue pass the first building on your right and then turn right and continue straight ahead.

THIS EDITION ALLOWS SOUNDS TO BRING 4 SUBS MAX  COMPRISING OF ONE STACK!!!!

A sound can bring upto 4 sub boxes no bigger than a scoop with each sub cab comprising a max of 1 driver (2 drivers if reflex).

Kick, upper bass or low mid cabs are also allowed but must play kick, high bass or high mid frequencies only!!

All scoops will be classed as sub duty cabs only.

THESE GUIDLINES ARE SET IN ORDER TO GIVE EACH SOUND ROUGHLY A LEVEL PLAYING FIELD.

We are aware there are gonna be different views on definitions of sub, kick, driver amounts in cabs etc but we believe the cab size is more important than the 1 driver or 2 per cab in sub boxes roughly the same volume................BUT UNTIL PROVEN DIFFERENT AT ONE OF OUR EVENTS WE WILL STICK TO THIS THEORY!!!

EACH SOUND IS ENTITLED TO AT LEAST ONE 32amp CEEFORM CONNECTION REGARDLESS AT WHAT TIME THEY ARRIVE

SoundSystem Sound-Off is a SoundCheck after all, but we would still like to see sounds entertaining the punters with music and vibes with their microphones as this is key to keeping these kind of events alive!

I personal think it does matter sound system sound-off not p.a soundoff the promoters should change the p.a company more to demonstrate equipment not really fair, using it as a cheap way to do so.

So, does that mean Tony ASS should have done that as well then ?

The rules say 4x subs & 4x kick bins, say's nothing else about difference between soundsystem & PA.

If I go in the soundcheck, I'll be the engineer, there will be an MC, and a selector, doesn't make us a soundsystem, does that mean I should pay extra for being a PA? LOL

Unu stop all dis bull sh***T argument and just enjoy di ting bredrins.

I personally like the fact that people like Tony ASS and Ligwa are willing to put a system together and showcase it. Give me a chance to hear them in a realistic way other than in a little room with one or two boxes.

also the golden palace is a big palace with high ceiling.  it is a good test for boxes to see if they can fill the venue

thats when the hype evaporates

being a big place the mid tops have space to sound nice without bounce back reflections mudding the sound

Shortman Mini = Wembly Bline (modified)
Steve B and Larry Dubs Scoops = Eminence  (modified)
Marvin Midi = Shortman Mini  (modified)
HBL Midi = Not sure but from the looks of it similar to Marvin Midi  (never see inside suh not sure, just the outside dims look similar)
Even the MS18 mkii look very similar to the Rhino
I never see inside a Ultimate properly, but it still is a scoop with Ultimate's own dims I suppose.

As Tony ASS said before even his scoop idea came from the JBL design. (I Think that's what he said)

Suh realy an truly when it come to SCOOPS, seem to mi Dem is all copies from di JBL or Eminence design

Levyte, you crack me up wid dem images!!!

The event hasn't even started and I can see already people sounding off (maybe I need to change the name to something else)!!!

I'm sure most of you have seen the film that the image above has been taken from.
Do you remember when Bruce Lee and the other fighters were on the boat on their way to the competitor when the hot head egotistic dude tried it on with Bruce?
Did he take the bait?
No!!!!
Bruce tricked the plonker into going on to the little boat 1st and then left him on their by himself tied to the big boat where all the others were......... all laughing at him!!

Some people can't refrain from raising certain questions/issues which to be honest are unnecessary, yet we still seem to fall for the bait!
Take a leaf out of Bruce Lee's book............. "The art of fighting is not to fight at all!!!"

.... i think it should be fine for anyone to bring a sound into sound off.... BUT..... we should also take that into account when reviewing performances...... if sound is your day job and you make good money out of it and have years of experience.... sound off should be a piece of p##s for you.... but the speaker plan underdogs seem to be prevailing.

i came up against virtually a matrix sponsered sound. motion came up against the scoop god father.......... looking forward to seeing what happens in feb.

its not just speakers and tunes............ theres more to it than that....... its about being a righteous person. Mykey you talk of money.... forget it.... the roots and culture scene SHOULDNT be about business men and selling stuff.

Would really like to hear a couple stacks of these....

That'll only be six 18's!

Also, brilliant if you bring along one of those new Celestion 18's & couple empty cabs (mini & full scoops) then maybe the first half hour or hour before the real sound off starts, we get a little demo!

If it can run, let me know then maybe we can bring up a couple more cabs (minis) to test, as it seems like this mini scoop test session ain't gonna take place! Wink

I am just a simple guy with a big passion for music from drumming since I was about 11 year old,to bass boxes in car to sound systems

I am not rich, just blessed with a growing bussiness

still hammered with VAT,TAX,bussiness insurance, running over heads, all the stock I hold,

It is not easy, its very hard  when the goverment and councils are clampping down on venues which is our stress relief, so we no long have anyway to play our music the way we like to play it......

does anybody stock scoop bins and mini scoop 48 at a time, no most people build to order. money has to come from someway.

Thank God I am Blessed to still have a proper running business

Keep doing your thing Ligwa. It's hard to make any money in reggae and soundsystem so fair play to you.

For me production and sound system are just (expensive) hobbies. Breaking even on my first record would be nice!

Can people (and they know who they are) please stop all the 'my dicks bigger than your dick' bullshit. Seriously, get a tape measure and have done with it. The message of reggae music is unity and we should all strive to support all those involved in the little scene we have.

I've known Ligwa for over 30 years, He runs a professional business, is VAT registered and has business insurance. All he has been doing since he started his company is trying to make Sound Systems more affordable to everyone who wants to build a Sound which is most of us on SP. As most of you would agree he has built a wonderful sounding scoop bin which you could say is almost half the price of an ASS RX18 which is another wicked Scoop (Thanks Tony). Leave the man alone!!!

By the way..... I don't see no problem in builders of speaker cabs, power amps or pre amps showcasing their products at sound off type events. How else are we going to evaluate their products if they don't demonstrate them in this type (dancehall) environment? You wouldn't be able to get into the PLASA show for a fiver and hear their products in full effect - although there would be more women in the placeWink
Ideally, they would be able to demonstrate the capabilities of their products and we can asses them from there. If we then hear a sound using the same product we can make a comparison and make a more informed decision whether we want to buy the said product or not. Simples!!

Respect to all sound men (and women), manufacturers, amp and cab builders, retailers, producers, musicians, promoters, and just decent human beings that keep the sound system ting going.

For the so call Roots and Culture people dem....it's one ting to play the music - it's another to put the Words into daily practice. Humbleness and integrity are tings that you can not (currently) buy on eBay - or access via a app.....

I'm off to bed now. I've got an appointment a 3pm down White Hart Lane todaySmileClap

My mate took me to hear a sound called Attraction ATC from over Wembley sides, i must say they need to be in the Sound Off, the system was amazing one of the best sounding sets iv'e ever heard.
Large scale version of Bang & Olufsen, i'm sure the Scoop bins were moving backwards slightly because of the amount of air been produced by the scoops it was chest pounding and on top of that the mid/highs sounded crisp and sharp wickedly tuned where have you guy's been hiding?

I managed to see their rack and found out what they were using:

FFA10000
FFA6004
Ligwa M62 speaker management
Sabine Eq
4x ASS RX18 Scoop's (don't know what drivers)
4x Ligwa Odeon 1221 mid/highs (don't know what drivers, sound wicked) i'm sure Mr Ligwa can tell us!!!

I must say respect to you guy'sHugHugThumbs Up
