would void v18-1000s sound okay loaded in 1850 folded horns ? also would building 1850s with void style bracing on them effect the perfomence of the horns sound. ?

the looney bin which was for the void driver was a slightly modified 1850 horn so it shouldnt be a problem a few guys on here have loaded 1850 horn with the void but i havent heard one only the looney bin. bracing in the mouth shouldnt make much difference unless you go mental and block the horn path.

The driver in looney bin is the v18-1000A and is not the commercial one..you can still buy looney bins from Void..

I'm sure i saw a thread somewhere. Some guy in Sweden or Finland that ordered some looney bins and didn't get them for months and Rog came on here to apologize to him because of some f*ck up with delivery times, i remember Rog saying that they will not be making anymore looney bins?
I could have just imagined all this but who knows!!

^ I'm pretty sure it was Italy(!?), definately not Finland. Thing is, the Looney Bin was a PAP-product, not officially a Void one, and they were always made to order. (PAP held no stock, just like the infamous Porn Horns!)
The difference between the commercial V18 and the Looney-one was coil material (copper vs. A for aluminium), at least according to hearsay.

He´s in Denmark the guy who ordered , maybe Void don´t or do make them won´t hurt to ask if one wants some , I think it´s more the price they were very cheap and they really don´t make no money out of selling them , before there were 2 different kinds of V18s now I think there´s only one , I don´t see why they´l make a driver for something that´s hardly selling ,

I’m sorry your dealing with PAP went bad Giordi, but I had no idea there was a problem.
I
don’t get involved with any of the business side of things, I just do
the R&D, but I am still surprised you never mentioned anything about
long delays to me during our conversations. If you had I might have
been able to help out, although I have to say that building Looney Bins
is a real pain in the arse as we don’t make many and have to make parts
for them to order, so there is not much I could have done. I’ve never
been a fan of making Looney Bins as it undermines the other products we
manufacture and does the industry no good whatsoever by selling at such a
cheap price. So I think stopping manufacture of the Looney Bin after
all current orders have been supplied we be the only way to go.
Sorry again and I will speak to the UK to see what has happened with the rest of your order.

like the other successful bins around
that are free, I hope plans will be posted on the SPEAKERPLANS SITE,
since this bin (looney bin) might be off production.......
hahahaha..........you the man Roger!!!

From the previous thread...
I wonder when the plans will be freely available?

I wonder when the plans will be freely available? I don´t think they will and if anything I think it´s a small change in the back chamber , it´s not a very big difference ,the chamber must be between the 186 and the 1850 size get some Mdf and try change the size you´l notes that the cabs will sound different, take the beast that sounds best with V18 think they sold for 1000£ which is nothing for a cab like that

Well, glad to see that was cleared up by people who actually know something about the situation! Everything turned out ok in the end?

To get this topic back on track: I haven't heard a 1850 horn loaded with the PD 1850, but have heard them with the V18-1000 (courtesy of pfly and his crew) on various occasions and have been very impressed. Even when stacked four in a row on their sides - not optimally that is - they've sounded good both indoors playing good dubstep handling the low lows well (was an appr. <50 m2 acoustically treated room) and live bands outdoors in the woods. They have a nice, slightly 'brutal' but accurate sound.

Iv heard the 1850 horn with the 1850pd and its all so sounds amazing, and up against the looney with the void driver i found it a warmer sound not as hard as the looney.
super looney bin?? god how many types where there? but allso isnt it up to one of us on here to make an updated vertion of the 1850 horn now, maybe the 1851 horn? and im not just talking about crowbaring a pd1851 driver in the same cab. complete redesign.

would the same void driver sound better or worse loaded in a hog scoop ? rather than a 1850

We use V18-1000 in our hogs and our 1850s, Love the sound of them. v18 is a smoother sound compared to the "brutal" 1850 sound, depends what you prefer i suppose.
I've heard both designs loaded with both drivers on numerous different occasions, never A-B though.

ive got both, i have a pair of void loonies loaded with void v18 (the 'a' type) and ive got 4 1850s with crossbracing, loaded with void v18 ( 'c' type) you can tell the difference, the loonies do sound nicer, BUT the 1850s still sound wicked i wouldnt fault them
