Hi al frends.
We have a lot of old MT4 system att the firm ( If any need a copple of them they are fore sale here i Europe).
The thing is that the old Dl18 element in a copple of them is in need of service. In Europe the re cone kit to this speaker are expencive and I think there is no meaning to pay that amount for the re cone kit if you can by a beter driver for the same money .

The question.
Is ther any out there that has put new 18" speakers in the old MTL18" (and that fits) and also sound better?.

A tip I have is to use the Faital Pro 18HP1020, he thinks that it both fits and sounds good in that old cab.

What do al out there think and have any some experiance of this?

Regards

The biggest problem with trying to find a replacement for the MTL-4 is the size of the magnet. Check the size of any replacement against the original.

Yeah, look at the Fane/PD offerings, I have never been a big MT4 fan, I've mixed on  lot of SSE's rigs and never really found the clarity I was after, but there is no knocking the SPL..

look at the Royal stuff, could unlease hell on a manifold, I know people raved about the MT2 because the drivers ran harder than the MT4 due mag size problems but with Neo you could pack 7k2W into a single box...

and sell off the shagged EV units for more cash....

I know someone who stuck RCF´s into his MTL4´s, but not sure which model. This was about 12 years ago and the RCF´s were a 600W model, so shouldn´t be too difficult to work out. Smile

I was just starting to be a user of this website, I saw your question.
I am an owner of 40 boxes of mt-4 system that compairs of MTL, 20 sub boxes and 20 tops MTH-4A.
In the past SSE people told me to rewire the sub for better results 2x16 ohm and then put my Crown MA 5000 to paralell mono and I am using 3 boxes on each amp.
I was intrest to put som other driver in my boxes, but buiyng 40. 18" drivers cost lot of money.
I talked to   http://www.parts-express.com - www.parts-express.com  and they told me that the Peavey  Low Rider 18" driver fits perfect and they had done lot of exthange in the US using them.
Power Handling (max) 3,200 Watts
Impedance 8 ohms
Frequency Response 25 to 500 Hz
Sensitivity 97.3 dB 1W/1m
Voice Coil Diameter 4"
Power Handling (RMS)

Hope this info help.

All best. Marteinn Smile

B&C 18bx 100-8 speaker fits perfect...expect the box to generate an earthquake of bass...if you wire 2subs @4ohms....using the right amplifier...(Lab gruppens 12K).....pure madness of bass.

i use 8 boxes at the club in kenya.

Can anyone tell me the correct B&C drivers that fit in the EV MT4L.
B&C 18bx 100-8 was mentioned. Maybe" denso" can chime in with the full item number.

B&C offers in 2025
B&C18TBX100-18 & B&C 18TBW100-18

Any help appreciated.
