Looking to build or maybe buy some cabs for fane 15XB's to use on smaller venues. What's going to be my best option? Fane constructor Cab? B&C sub 15? Or something else? Need to be as compact as possible without affecting performance. ------------- 100% Earth Moving Bass |

I've recently build some reflex cab for 15xb's. They sound great but in my opinion the box need is not that compact (i went for 140l gross cab) and there are other drivers that can give more output in a smaller cab but cost more ££!! But they do sound good, i use 2 of them as drum fill subs at the moment and drummers seem very happy. ------------- Lignum_ww@icloud.com GNKaudio@icloud.com |

i have 4 rcf lf15p200ak that i want to used them for low mids over scoop is it ok to build this box for the l12p200ak an play them about 60 to 160 or is it best to build a cab that tune highter ???

I asked the same questions once and TonyA.S.S. responded that the tuning frequency does not matter at all if you run them higher. Above my scoops I use the L15P540 (but in a different box) from 90 to 200 and they sound fine. When I was looking for kick bin designs, I could hardly find anything with much higher tuning frequencies, because usually all these boxes are supposed to be subs as well, but can also be used as kicks above other subs. But what is actually the difference between the tuning frequency and the LF limit? I always thought boxes should not be played lower than the tuning frequency. |

depends on the driver really.......
i dont know what i was thinking wen i wrote this most 15" drivers should play "ok" upto 800hz ...ya just wouldnt, theres a few other cabs iv looked at too...  ------------- If it sounds like a gorilla is trying to escape, turn it down. |

A reflex cab will easily go to 200. If you list what the rest of your gear is, what music you play & how many peeps you want to cover you will get better advice.

The little rig I'm currently building is based on the DM2 plans but split into separate cabs so I can lift them on my own. Design uses Kappa 15 LF crossed at 250 Hz. Iirc box is about 120 Ltr gross tuned to 46 Hz. Have the wood cut and ready to build so can't comment on what they sound like just yet. |

| have to agree, higher tuning doesn't bring any benefit. I simulated single L15P200AK in a small reflex. if you high pass it BW 8th order at 80 Hz, you can give it the stick until it runs into the thermal limit without exceeding xmax. With 1600 W (rated peak power) it will dish out 127 dB |

i am looking to take the 15"s out of these cabs that i have: http://www.bob-audio.com/en/FS252.php and build something similar (single cab per driver) i currently run these over top of two super scoopers, sounds good, but because the BOB cabinets are so tall it makes it a pain to set up by myself, also very heavy. is anyone godo with designing things to a drivers specs? i cutoff at 100Hz for the scoops and run these over top. it also has a 2" compression driver in it with what i assume is an internal passive x-over i will likely put these comp drivers in their own box with the passive x-over in it, or run them spereately with other tops off another amp in the future.... the quoted design above looks pretty good...i suppose it is a question of measuring the box they are currently in but it is trapezoid in nature and i am not so sure on how to calculate the port length and opening size as its a weird design inside from that perspective (shelf between comp driver and the lower part, ports on either side of the comp driver etc etc any help would be awesome |
