Is it possible to add a curved section to the 1850 mouth, mainly for aesthetics but would it affect sound. It would look great

as long as you maintain the flare it should actually sound better as some energy is lost in corners.  Also make sure you build the curve super rigid, and don't forget you have to squeeze in the double upright braces in the mouth.

I just put one together yesterday, and have three more to go.  Personally, I would just stick with the plan and make those compromises.

Agree'd! In the ideal world, you wouldn't want any angles at all, some of the £80k speakers consist of one driver and a wood flare/horn which is all one piece (no sharp angles).

Yes it will affect sound (and the overall tuning of the box) but as with all of these designs, practice makes perfect!

Let me know how it goes!
