what type of cad file(s) do you need? dwg, dxf, solidworks part/assembly, step? etc...

if you can tell me what needs to be produced i can draw it up for you

I'm guessing this wouldn't be for free, I think I'd like to have a go at it myself if not. What software should I be looking at using

If you were making your living from this game I would expect to get paid but from what i have gleaned from your posts this is more of a hobby for you. In which case i'm happy to do it freeconsidering its such a small job.
You need to find out what file format you need to provide to the CNC company. I use Solidworks, I know Tony Wilkes uses Varicad (you can get a free 30 day trial), others may use Inventor or Autocad (if 2d required, again a 30 day trial is available). Drafsight is a free Autocad clone that is worth a look.
