is it possible to make a twin 18" scoop based on the design of the super scooper by simply building one to twice the width. would i need to change anything?

I'm not expert, but i would think the only thing you would need to change. would be your mind. That sounds like an install only speaker.

Somebody else was asking this same question not too long ago on here.

Here's a link Scott to where someone else was asking a similar question:

Why not go all the way and build double 24" scoop using PD 2450? Or use two Fostex 32" drivers?

Those fostex 31" units are big but weak, they will play deep but not loud at ALL!

See....

... for details

Re the massive scoop..... id say build it n see! It ought to work fine yeah although i think if you blow one of the drivers the other wont sound right on its own (wearas if you had two normal ones and blew one driver you'd just lose output)

yes, you can build a double, just stick the two together without one side panel to create one big horn. Though it will be seriously heavy, probably won't perform much different to two singles stacked together, and Alfies point about possibilty of losing two drivers worth of output if one cone blows is a good one.

The only difference is that with one big cabinet,it breaks your back twice as easily, and panel modes may become more of a problem unless braced.

Also a double scoop can't get through most doors.

So for install only.

Yeah and Alfie's point is good too. If you blow one you could loose the other as it has to work twice as hard.
Plus wouldn't sound right.

Build a 24 inch scoop, Jah Tubbys manage to somehow custom make them. Or a 21 inch super scooper.
