THIS EDITION ALLOWS SOUNDS TO BRING 4 SUBS MAX.

A sound can bring upto 4 sub boxes no bigger than a scoop with each sub cab comprising a max of 1 driver (2 drivers if reflex).

Kick, upper bass or low mid cabs are also allowed but must play kick, high bass or high mid frequencies only!!

All scoops will be classed as sub duty cabs only.

THESE GUIDLINES ARE SET IN ORDER TO GIVE EACH SOUND ROUGHLY A LEVEL PLAYING FIELD. http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?toolid=10029&campid=CAMPAIGNID&customid=CUSTOMID&catId=267&type=2&ext=380476846959&item=380476846959" rel="nofollow -

We are aware there are gonna be different views on definitions of sub, kick, driver amounts in cabs etc but we believe the cab size is more important than the 1 driver or 2 per cab in sub boxes roughly the same volume................BUT UNTIL PROVEN DIFFERENT AT ONE OF OUR EVENTS WE WILL STICK TO THIS THEORY!! http://www.ebay.com/sch/Consumer-Electronics-/293/i.html?_nkw=theory%21" rel="nofollow -

EACH SOUND IS ENTITLED TO AT LEAST ONE 32amp CEEFORM CONNECTION REGARDLESS AT WHAT TIME THEY ARRIVE

SoundSystem Sound-Off is a soundcheck http://rd.bizrate.com/rd?t=http%3A%2F%2Ftracking.searchmarketing.com%2Fclick.asp%3Faid%3D1041011480&mid=151872&cat_id=10110000&prod_id=2628885618&pos=0&rf=af1&b_id=17&bamt=190dffa3f3d84e21&ppr=243e9fca9cb7cbac&oid=2719459612&country_code=US&atom=10330&bid_type=1&af_assettype_id=12&af_placement_id=1&af_creative_id=8&af_id=%5bPUBLISHER_ID%5d" rel="nofollow - after all, but we would still like to see sounds entertaining the punters with music and vibes with their microphones as this is key to keeping these kind of events alive!

I'll be bringing a set into GP under the name "Shabach Sounds".

As this is a "soundcheck", will be bringing guest DJs, & my Lev .44 Scoops (PD1852 loaded), for 2nd test, this time powered by Pre-Amp.

Respects to "the crew" for making this possible, & Kutty providing assistance/PD1852s. Clap

I tend to try to do both... I can't check my sound without playing music through it so I try to play music to entertain not to prove I have the best system in the land.  It isn't there for the approval of certain SP members in terms of bass pressure and SPL... I leave that to a few other sounds. We are not here to sell speaker boxes either. it is a system I built so that I can play my music the way I like to..

And as much as some people try to stop us from what we do take it from me... it's a fruitless task. We are here to stay. If people don't like what we do simple  don't come to listen to us or get a drink at the bar and relax.

Hope this clarifies why we are in the palace

We are still testing a few things so we are back in the palace to do it.

to be fair the first time you enter a soundcheck there are a few nerves but as you have done so many sound checks i guess its second nature to you now

but for new comers its a bit of pressure as you enter these events to be judged by other soundmen and the judging will often be harsher then any regular party goer as these people have good ears

complex took it for me - strong all round

quality - very loud puncy sound. good drive on the bass. great mic man

ebony - same as always.  all the jokes are true

shabach - first time i had head the pd1852 and it sounded good.  too close to say who was loudest.  music was a bit slow for me but boxes were being tested not music.

promotion 54 produced a very entertaining line up

just my view

Maximum respecks to all the sounds.

A very good night indeed.
Most of the sounds have had plenty time learning their sets and that shined through on the night.
Have to give a very big "we'll done" to SHABACH Alliance, as yesterday was the 1st time they had come together with all their equipment, and sounded pretty good, considering the potential for things to tits up in a situation like this.

Nuff respeck to all who attended.

Lookout for the next installment on 7th April

Morion54 - thanks for getting this event together. Great to meet you at the end also.

First time down there ( taken me far too long), and it was great to see some old faces and put some new faces to names. Sorry to miss people later on, but Tony has a long drive back, and i had to be up and around early.

We were down there only for the early part of the event, having hitched a ride down with Tony. It proved entertaining and very informative - as many of you know, i come from a very different part of the "sound system business", but i firmly believe that every part of the industry can learn a lot from people and systems coming from a different part of the business, and last night affirmed that belief.

As for the 4 systems , and what i heard from them...

Complex - nice round bass line, very smooth without being overly forcefull. Perhaps a better balance than some. Top end for me fas war too strident, lots of 3-6K - which was also shown up on the mic which was ringing around the same region. Im not sure you need your horn boxes in addition to the 2" section in your larger mid high cabs - perhaps a tweeter section might enhance?

Quality assured - for me, this was the system with the overall presence and projection, but was it level at the expense of quality?
I might be wrong, but im fairly confident that above the scoops lay 2 twin 18 BP6 boxes, tuned fairly low...making 8 18" drivers in 6 sub boxes...just my take on it, and i stand to be corrected...

Ebony Showcase - for me, Ebony owned it above 80Hz, with by far and away the most definition and balance. Below, the sub bass could not compete on level terms or projection into the room - but it was interesting to note that what sub there was could start and stop quickly and sounded well controlled.
I think with a larger sub section, this would be a system to compete with the best, but as it stands, Ebonys sub section ( and i include amplifiers in this) can not compete on a box by box basis for sheer output.

Shabach sound - well, with a crew line up like that, you are going to have a certain level of expectation. I was not disappointed.
Early on, the rig was first fired up on a large QSC rack with i presume bridged RMX4050's on sub and i thing PL 2 series on mid high. Front end included a beautiful Garrard Lab 80, which looking like it was fresh out the box.
On the QSC rack, the sub was impressive in output and depth, and the high section sounded sweet. Later on, the crew swapped to a powersoft rack. This improved sub output and definition to truly impressive levels, but in my view hardened up the sound of the mid highs, making the rig sound more aggressive.

Hopefully ill make another edition soon, but for now, big thanks to all those involved.

enjoyed this soundcheck Big smile glad i heard complex, nice system, clear, powerfull, nice deep sub, nice music, lookin forward to hearin that sound play out Thumbs Up

as for shabach, silky smooth mid tops, and the warmest roundest deepest sub to ever fill golden palace out of all the many sessions ive been to in there Shocked lev.44 scoops filled the room with all the notes, crazy 40hz.... (no bias review either as ive put soundsystems in there myself!) credit where its due - Lev.44 scoop is up there with all the top scoops. benchmark scoop to beat imo. its easy to fill a room wiv high bass but to fill that place wiv that much 40hz wiv only 4subs is VERY impressive Clap  nearly on par wiv a nex sound who went in previously wiv 6 pd1850 scoops Shocked

Big thank you to Motion54,

Two highlights for me, the Lab80, ain't seen one in that condition since 1968 :) and the output and control from the Shabach (Lev.44) scoops driven by the Powersoft (K10?)

+1 for Luton Soundmans summary.I was really impressed with the Shabach Alliance, just goes to show what can be achieved when soundmen pool their resources and experience.Would definately like to see/hear more of the Alliance, definately world classClap.
Biggest highlight of the night for me was to hear the unmistakeable signature bass tone of Rens pre amp which really got the best out of the 1852s and Levs scoops. Its time now Ren to get APS back out on the road so that we can all hear that perfect bass with YOUR crystal tops!!
Very well done to all the sound systems that were involved, everyone played well and sounded good.
Thanks to Motion 54 for another excellent event, keep up the good work.

Good soundcheck all had plus & minuses but complex had everything running the best IMHO from sound quality to music other sounds did well but why would a Soundman who thinks he knows all there is about sound have to get other established soundmen to run his system ? Quality assured always consistent but not up to their usual high standard for me Ebony nice PA system very well presented but lacked a bit of grunt good job m54

First of all Big thanks to Kutty "Qualitex", Ren (APS & Crew), Lincoln "Tekasis", DJ Cowboy (Quadrophonic), and Motion 54, for their assistance in making this happen.

Biggup to Quality Assured, Complex sound, Ebony Showcase for an entertaining night of music, skills, and banter.

The objective of the exercise "for Shabach", was to "sound check" and promote the Lev .44 18" scoop, as we knew Kutty didn't have the opportunity to fully do it, when Qualitex played earlier this year.

Ren was asked if he'd be interested in the exercise, and said yes, as it allowed him to "test/check" changes he made to his own setup.

"Tekasis" & myself, discussed from long time, we would go in GP at right time.

I used the name "Shabach" as a collective team name, as it's what I would use, if I regularly played out.

If Ren's setup was not ready in time, you can see my control tower, pre-amp, QSC amp rack, 32A-3PH distro was ready.

Every cab you see in the Shabach stack was loaded into the van by me. I drove the van to GP. And Unloaded every cab off the van. All this after playing out with Cowboy Sat night, and getting to bed 06.30 Sunday am.

So I don't want no guy tell me I can't take a seat for a while during GP, after loading & unloading van, setup amprack/control/tower/power, and integration test. Especially as fully 5x way Active set, reach GP at 16:00hrs, and playing at 17:00hrs. Wink

When the system played for first few segments, Ren tuned his Pre-amp, and requested me to make any changes to my LMS settings or levels. Once initial setup done, Ren then operated his pre in unity with selectors, as only he can. Clap

Later on, Kutty wanted to "soundcheck" his LMS+Powersoft rack with Ren pre, and the .44 scoops + PD1852.

Even though Mic section was not up to scratch, and probs with Low mid section/intermittent noise from pre, general feedback was at times system was crystal, with solid sub output.

So a successful "sound check" for us, and thanks to "those" for the positive feedback. Clap

Been thru many of your back posts, and since you created your fake id, last year June, 90% of what you have to say is cussing people out. And you call yourself Jah?

Seeing as you have so much negativity to spread about other peoples systems, maybe you should take a system in Golden Palace, and show us how it's done ?

Whilst everyone is entitled to their own opinion, there is such a thing as 'constructive' comments? We are all here for the same reason? Sound systems/learning?
Pisses me off when every thread turns negative, maybe a reason why many users choose not to come on here anymore.
Soundboy business ain't easy as we all know, whether you playing set or shifting bins, you should respect that.
Just my 'opinion'.

Moreover, why are you posting on this forum when you have not built or owned a system and have no intention of owning or building speakers.  You opinion is therefore invalid.

Gentlemen, please share your views but refrain from disrespecting each other.
The last thing I want is for this thread to get locked.
It's always best to share your views face to face, as the keyboard seems to cause aggro, especially when one starts to get personal!!!

We put this event on to promote soundsystem culture.
Jahlive, don't keep on highlighting the negative part of our dying heritage, as this simply pushes towards its premature death.

Soundsystem is for everybody - you don't have a sound to have a view, but At the same time, you don't have to diss share your view.

Love'n'Unity is the only way forward.......... init Luke??

Hi Motion54

we must remember lool for years and years sound man has taken their sound system personal
.cut man wire
.put out man mains plug
.fight in the dance
.steal a man sound van
.
.
what else??????

But it is nice to see man is still taking the sound system personal ITS the PASSION of sound system

dont think so?

My opinion is that yes, a lot of pride is in a mans set (and their name - motion54 not 45, Ligwa).
Everyman has their own opinion.
The problem starts when a man sits infront of a keyboard and says this and says that.
Say what you have to say infront of a mans face like a man - they won't be any conflict because a man would choose different words when he talks, compared to when he types!!!!

I'm not dissing, just stating facts!!!
Days of mans robbing next mans sound I would hope is long gone, because sound man were young youths right?
And now grown and matured......... I hope!!!!

motion these are sound checks but have you thought of doing a dance with the best entertainers of the the last yr

like wassie one v complex v hawkeye v ofuoffogp

the above are just examples but you get what i mean... a selectas edition

which ends at 2am or 3am instead of 11pm

[with no excessive talking on the mic!!! everyone gets a set time then there locked off]

Well Said

The way how I see it, it was R&D (Research and Development).

It was the best way to test out the scoop/amp/pre-amp/lms in real time and compare notes to what combination sounds best. To me, this way then pushes boundaries to how to make things better in the future.

Finally, why not do it in a room full of soundman so you can get their opinions? Sounds logical to me
