hello

im 18 and trying to put together a good pa system for my band and cant decide which speakers to use       ive got a pair of 12" mid horns. this system has to be pretty cheap as i am very tight for cash but i need some good high end and bass.  i can get eminence and b&c drivers locally   and i was also wondering if peavey black widow drivers are any good cuz i can get some of those for cheap. so any help would be great.    thanks garrett

Sounds like you're a candidate for a 15/18 bass-reflex and a portable 12"/1" Top that could serve as a compact monitor at a later stage. If money is short, you could also give the X15 a try and add a sub along with active x/o and what not. What suppiosedly sets this 15"/1" combo apart from most, is that it's also useable as a Top. Models about as loud as it gets for a 15 in a Mid-Bass (see, not Bass-Mid) and can be extended with subs at a later stage.

However, all my ramblings have absolutely no meaning, unless you tell the peeple here what is expected of this system. Music/venues/need for portability/ need for later expansion/ budget and more all factor into what's sensible, so shoot and see what people here can come up with (some seriously road-hardned types hang around here on occasion)

ok well i want to be able to do bigger shows    like 500 ppl

i have 12" mid horns unloaded, i baught them from a guy who did outdoor shows so these cabs are built like a tank with 13 ply wood and i need a good driver for these.

also what would be a good sub to use      i am thinking a couple 1850s a side with my mid horns and then i need some high end cabs

oh ya and it will be for live bands mostly

Hi,

The 1850 horn is a great design, but you need to use them in a stack of at least 4, else all you will get is loads of 'kick' and no sub.

I believe the best driver to use for a 12in Mid horn is the P Audio SN 12B. You would probrably need 2 of these per side though if you wanted to use a stack of 1850s underneath.

can i get these p audio sn 12b in canada or will i hav to ship them  and how much am i looking at for a pair

and what would be a good driver/horn to use with this set up

and i know an amazing cabinet maker that could make me a copy of my mid horns

so 4 1850s a side with 2-12" mid horns a side and some high end

sounds pretty sweet so far     i just need to find the funds
