Is this the correct way or should i find a plan with 18mm ply

Yep, use 15mm. That's what I built all of mine from. Make sure it's good quality birch throughout.

15mm is fine, you have loads of bracing internally. Proper builds are ridiculously strong. And one is actually quite weighty, so I would not want to lift an 18mm version solo.

I've used 18mm but I don't think there is any difference in sound/quality. Go for 15mm as my punisher weights 70kg!!
