One of the better drivers around for bass-kickbass duty.
T/S parameters suggest it and experiences going back nearly 30 years of using in various cabs confirms it. And not one single failure in all that time. Very solid driver.

Well they are better suited for and hd15 then they are for reflex jobs. If they were loaded in a reflex cab, i'd say stay well over 50Hz. I've personally got them loaded in straight 15'' horns doing kick and lower mid, they were the best suited for this range when i tested several different speakers.

Best regards,
Teun.

However judging by the name of it, it might be a rcf l15l601(looks pretty much identical to a 554k), which does have somewhat similar characteristics and would also fare well in a hd15.

I haven't got a clue what they're worth. There's a pair on eBay for 240 tho. So I thought 100 each is a good place to start before banter factor.

They are 600W per AES specification

So the rms power is 600 watt even if they are l 15-554 without "K" ?

No, AES specification is not the same as RMS specification.
Back in the day they were rated as 300 or 400 Watts RMS.

K stands for Kapton voicecoil former, nothing to do with power handling.

If the speaker is really 20 years or older, these are the specs out of a very old brochure :

Fs      :  32 Hz
Re     :  6,3 Ohm
Sens. : 102 dB/1W/1m
Xmax :  4 mm
BL      :  19,2
Qms   :  7,0
Qes    :  0,210
Qts    :  0,204
Vas    :  340 liter
Mms   :  61 grams

And so probably 200 or 400 watt ?

Date Posted: 01 May 2014 at 4:50pm
In RMS terms... yes, but that was when the power rating wars were not yet raging LOL.
In todays terms that would probably translate to 500 W AES or so.
