Hi there guys, been working on building up my rig. I currently have; 4 x 18" super scoopers ( to be upgraded to some Startec sbh's, in the near future ) loaded with pd1850s. I also have 4 x MT130s, loaded with pd 121s and bms 4550s.
I am now looking to fill the void that is my mid section. We are going to be playing mainly; drum n bass, reggae, dub step, deep house ... that sort of thing, but i need my rig to be versatile enough to play pretty much anything without too much trouble. Now i am by no means an expert at all this, but i'm pretty sure a  http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=hd15&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Ahd15" rel="nofollow - hd15  or an es18 is something along the right lines of what i am looking for to fit in with my existing cabs and will work well when i get my startecs.
Now looking at the frequency responses for both of these cabs, the es18s will be a lot more versatile, and i can use 4 of them and they will still be very effective ( as i understand, hd15s are only that effective in numbers above four ). But i have been advised by a few people on here that to get the precise, tighter, punchier kick/mid section that i desire, i should be looking at 15" bins rather that 18"s.
So this got me thinking, are there any designs out there for an es15 ? ( effectively an es18 scaled down to house a 15" driver instead ), would this work ? would it affect the freq. response much ? or is anybody familiar with someone trying this concept out before and could shed some light ?

Any and all opinions are appreciated, it would help alot if somebody could help me out with this one please.
Thanks, P Smile

There is an es 15. I don't know how well it works, but I'm sure that with the right driver it should work very well (its not a particularily demanding task; 80 to 140hz)

To a search and I'm sure u will find it.

What crossover points do you run your cabs at ?

guys on here will look at what you have and say what to move up and what to move down to then fit a cab in. once they know the frequencey range then its always a lot more obvious !!!!

After hearing sooooooo many various scoops. This SBH is the one that will make all scoops redundant. We tested one in the back yard and the whole of Catford could hear it lol...Sunday come, we gonna have 2 x SBH Vs 2 x Super Scoopers back 2 back all loaded with 1850.
I built 2 of these over the weekend. I used 18mm WBP ply as I got them cheap from my local builders yard. These boxes are demo. just wanted to hear how good they are and what the fuss was all about.. So far they sound awesome. After Sunday Vs the Scoops, we will know if or not to build more, but this time CNC Birch ply all the way..

I will keep you posted on the outcome

Just because you got more boxes that don't make you a man....

Hey man, we do D'n'B through our rig, this is one side of what is locally known as "The Goblin Rig":

Loaded with BMS 4550, PDN.12MH25, HD15's with PD154, and MS18 MkII (slim style) Loaded with PD1851.  We are very happy with the sound, I believe that the HD15 kicks ass big time mate, stick 4K of juice or there abouts into a Quad like this and it is like being punched in the chest! We quite often only use one HD15 and one MS18 with a top each side (use this setup for free party action), and it sounds great too, I firmly stand by the HD15 being my kick cab of choice at present!

I use Marc O's MKB-230, double 12 on top of 18" tapped horns, which have a fairly similar range and size as the sbh. The have some serious kick and the 12's make it really tight. Sims on hornplans.free.fr show them as slightly more sensitive than hd215 and playing slightly higher as well

no in sydney has hd15s so i have no actual comparison.
