Seen some HD215 with the center extended out to finish the horn length (as two single HD15 couple)
And some HD215 with center piece with cutout detail (similar to mungos).

Are there any cons to cutting this out?
Does it mess with the surface area of those final horn segments?

No I can't imagine it makes any audible difference, so many hd's have been built like the above picture and everyone seems happy with them, plus it looks pretty awsome

there is a way of cutting both brace pieces out of the same square piece of wood... seen it done.

Always a compromise, You can't have everything...

Where would you put it all.
