Hi, i'm half way through my 1st mt121 build (pics soon), and i have just received my p-audio 2723 horns and bmd750 mk2 comp drivers in the mail, and have just realised how damn heavy these 2" drivers are.

My question is: do i need to make a bracket to hold the comp driver in, or will the horn be strong enough to hold it, and not break when the speakers are moved around to parties/gigs?

I've been scouring the forums for build pics that show something of the sort, but with no luck.

If i do need to make a bracket of some sort, could someone please suggest a design, or show some pictures of what they have rigged up?

Thanks.

We have a brace across the tops that also supports the horn.

The horn may support the driver but I would be inclined to shove a support in anyway just so if it gets knocked or a harder hit its not likely to break.

I would get a bit of wood as wide as the box and wider than the driver then cut a circular hole the size of the driver in it and put that in the box around the driver :)

I might do that, i'm using 21mm birch for the outside box, so 1 piece should get a nice surface area.

Thanks.

  Here's one of my top boxes, 2" Cerwin Vega and Fane 1", all you need is a bit of material around the driver to stop it going anywhere, simples!;
