Hey guys,

Putting on an event in December and one of my mates helps to run an internet radio that live streams DJs and we were talking about the possibility of live streaming one of our nights.

Has anyone got any experience doing this?

It would be video and sound that would be streamed and gear wise we should be sorted. (the guys that do it normally run from home with a laptop (on wifi) webcam and soundcard using Ustream on their own website.

The pub the nights in has a phone line but the only thing that is the problem is an actual internet connection.

Is there any service providers that would do something like this for a day or 2? or will it be too much hassle to organise all this?

Any thoughts would be welcome! :)

Thanks

Forgot to mention, this would be in a town in south west scotland called dumfries, I thought about the possibility of 3G or 4G but the coverage there is pretty terrible so decided it would have to be through the phone line if it was to happen at all...

Any other buildings nearby with wifi? If you can get any wifi signals in the venue, it'd be worth knocking on a few doors and offer to bung them a tenner or something to use thair connection for the night?

Look at bonded 3G and a decent high mounted antenna. We use Peplink kit in mobile homes, buses and in remote properties or for people that will not accept any internet downtime.

Dupe...

Forget any temp ADSL/VHDSL lines, they will cost a mint (like £60 connection + 12 x£30 min, and take 10 days to activate)

Some thing like a Draytek 2930 with a USB 3G stick rammed in would be your best bet, ideally do a site recky for best 3G signal, take an unlocked stick and Voda/EE/3G sims and use the best one you can get, stuff the Draytek in best signal position and CAT-5 to streaming machine!!!!

KILL the WIFI on the Draytek!!!!!!

Which pub is it? I know Dumfries well. I would do what Shaggy says.

We've just done exactly that with a new venue that needed to open with PDQ's but couldn't get a line and broadband installed in time. Draytek router, 3G USB dongle, Robert is your father's brother.
