my first ever bass amp (forgetting the mic in of a tape deck into a hifi amp) was a 20w solid state vortexion pa amp. it was ridiculously loud for its rating and Ive always had a soft spot for the brand

btw, the leather handle was intact until I turned my back on the mutt when she promptly ate it

Absolutely. Wouldn't be surprised if there was a BBC stamp on there somewhere.

I have two customers who are Vortexion collectors, (Made here in Wimbledon) if you have a figure in mind I can pass your details on to them.

...and making some Japanese hifi collector (and your bank manager) happy chappies. I just deleted some Vortexion catalogues and spec sheets (not originals, obviously, just scans) 'cos I thought no-one would ever need them since they've been sitting on my HDD gathering virtual dust for a couple of years. Arse!

For sidefills, can we have two enormous things of a type that might be venerated as Gods by the inhabitants of Easter Island, capable of reaching volumes that would make Beelzebub soil his pants.

Hmm, Don't build your hopes up too high as the Japanese aren't that interested in old PA equipment, they tend to go for stereo Hi Fi which Vortexion are certainly not. Their bread and butter money came from pa systems for factories and churches which means that the "current" market is for use as the front end of guitar amps. They did do some tape machines aimed at the home market, one of which I have in my collection, but you will find your model is a PA amplifier in the 10w range and will sell to a musician.

I found another forgotten beast at the back of the garage (its a miracle any of my pets survive given my ability to forget I own things)

the only identifying mark is this label:

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/538/ba6901.jpg/" rel="nofollow">

has anyone heard of EGD, they seem to have been a wimbledon based PA company but my attempts to have a chat with them have drawn a blank. all the info on the net seems out of date.

anyway, the rest of it looks like this

its odd that both of the old amps Ive forgotten about are both from wimbledon.

anyway, all on ebay now.

ian, please feel free to remove the link if its in breach of the forum rules, I promise Im not touting for business
