Hi guys,

I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations on which speaker I should use in these cabs,
we are running 4x 18 inch sa wbin + 2x 15 inch martin 115 horn + 2x xtro as extra kick and ofc mid/high top. I was looking at the 18sound lw1400 to put in the wbins and eminence lab 15 inch driver for in the martins.

Does anyone use any other drivers or perhaps these?
Just looking for ideas/reviews/opinions , I understand about t/s parameters Smile

The best current driver for the Martin 115 is PD1550.

If anyone has some pd1550 second hand and willing to ship to Belgium that would be great :).
Is pd1850 also a good option for sa 4518 wbin?

i think the stage accompany subs would have had JBL drivers originally?

I'd stick with the 18 sound drivers over 1850's for that box, fane 18xb's would also work well if my memory of that box is correct

Stage accompany did put JBL 2241 in them, but on a dutch forum a guy claims that JBL K151 would be the better choice. (as old and original speakers)

Most ideally for the sa 4518 wbin the parameters would be a QTS lower than 0.3 , bl higher than 20 and fs around 30hz.

The 18sound lw1400 seems to be a good choice and lives up to those specs.

The Fane seems to have a little higher QTS,
0.337, fs is 33hz.

I'm going to choose the 18sound driver then, I can buy one pretty cheap in Belgium. If some one has some second let me know!

I find the pd1550 quite hard sounding in the Martin 115 (well in most cabs to be fair), good spl, but not the most musical to my ears.

Also look at

RCF L15P200AK
ATC PA100-375-Bass-LC

Used both these with very good results

Hmm.. Does is sound some what ' air pressure like'? That it only moves air but no so musical?
We had Gauss 4583 drivers in our martins before but blew them :(.
The martins sounded quite good! with every kick drum comming in they made a massive 'bang' but in a good clean musical way.

Best way I can describe it was "hard on the ears" not offensive by any means and they were seriously loud, but its not something id want to listen to for some time...fatiguing/non musical to me. Of course entirely my view, as you can see above, others love them..

So a list of current modern drivers which would fit in a martin 115:
PD 1550
Eminence Kappa Pro 15 LF
P Audio SD15
RCF MB15N401
RCF
LF15N401
RCF L15P200AK
ATC PA100-375-Bass-LC

Reconing would be too much effort, don't know where to get them and would cost a lot for 6x recone kits.
I'd rather buy a modern day driver.

It would be cheaper and easier to move to the states and get your Gauss reconed there.LOL

^ Very true. The kits are around $180 (about £112)  in the US,add the shipping + VAT and duty, just throw it in a skip, and go and buy a PD1550.

The gauss actually sounds very good in the martin bin, i'm also having a look at the eminence omega pro. The speaker for 4x wbins is going to be 18soundlw1400. speaker for martin not yet decided but i'll keep you guys posted when the system is ready :)

I can also get some 18sound 181300 or a cheap price, but the t/s parameters don't  fit that good.
The succeedor of the 18sound lw1400 is the 18sound is 18w1300, the last one has a less stiffer cone so not so good for horn loading I think?
