I Picked up my 21" mini scoops from Joe yesterday and I must say I am well impressed with the build.. Real solid construction and still relatively light. Paint and finish looks great as well. I cant wait to put some power through them.. My PD2150 drivers are in, so tomorrow I will give them a good test with my Preamp and a 3K amp.

I forgot about you. I have the 21" in the back of the van. Been over to Becton a few times to HSS too. If you're not 100% about the new ones, ill drop it off to you for a play around. So did you buy these without hearing them?

i really hope you like them but that seems like an awfully small cab for a monster driver to preform its best in
will you be bridging a 3kwrms amp into each scoop?
please keep us updated on your testing and thoughts
if you dont like the sound remember to run the pd2150s in to loosen them up
if the sound is still not to your liking try wadding the chamber fully
also try moving them around wit those handles but from experience i like the handles right of the edge of the mouth and the back corner as this makes it easier to go up/down stairs
looking good though

I here you Mykey, But I remember you stating that the PD2150 wasn't the ideal driver in your 21" minis. I think you stated it was made for the PD 21" neo version.

ppl have told me in the past the the pd2150 and pd2151 are very similar
is that incorrect?

I tested them for a few hours today and they sound pretty good. I haven't heard many 21" scoops to compare them to, But they sound heavy and well controlled. I was impressed with the output from the box at low volumes. The bass roles of quite nice and does travel a bit. I am not sure what the box output will be when driven hard. When I got them made I should of got the mouth 3" bigger. I played them without the grills and the cones really are well controlled. It seems that the driver chamber is almost perfect. I only played them at home so I really would like to here these driven hard. I used a 3K link's amp and a Charlie pre to run them. Any way thats my sceientific testing method..

you should test them against a good 18" full scoop and see where your scoops rank

Right, 2 years on how these play?? Always been a fan of small boxes that play low and heavy. How do they throw? Whats the 30/40hz like? Isit more of a 30-50hz monster or 50+ monster?? Cheers

Intrigued on how these have performed too. Don't see 21'' PD being used alot (nothing wrong with that, just an observation).
I agree that the horn mouth looks too small, however just could be because a 21'' driver is loaded in, and it's askewing peoples minds eye of what they normally see with miniscoops.
Any photos during build to see the chamber etc?
I swear I've also seen people saying that horn mouths on scoops are just aesthetic and that the business end of it happens up at the top of the cab, however I think that was some discussions in what part the curve of the scoop has to play on overall sound.
Look like very nice builds though, and I'm a big fan of mini scoops after seeing what have HMAudio's have done first hand, can be deadly when powered and controlled right.

Learned person here once said, Mini Scoops have ports not horn mouths, whereas full Scoops are proper rear loaded horns, with throat, horn, back chamber, horn mouth.

A mini scoop is a quarter wave tube/ transmission line to be precise. You can check whether something is this or a real scoop/rearloaded horn by looking at the impedance plot. A true scoop will only show small peaks and an overall increased impedance in the upper passband while a "mini scoop" will show large peaks (and therefor higher q resonances in between) like a reflex enclosure.
