After many re-jigs of various drivers, many unfinished cabs burned, many screwed up pieces of paper and many many (many) f**ks and b*****ds amongst many other things.
Here is the start of my 2nd sound system (first of which i am using my own and shared plans, not commercial brands)
After selling most of my old kit. This is where I have got to so far.

2" Comps and Flare

12 + 2 boxes (kept 1 to now use as a booth monitor, burnt the other due to white tuff cab destroying it as mentioned in a previous thread LOL)

The 2" comps and flares have now been moved into separate boxes which are being built at the moment.
The 12" from the boxes have been moved into a double sealed midrange box.

I thought that you would use those two sealed 2x12" for kicks and moreSmile

I am very satisfied on the sealed 12" I have playing above 18" reflex.

Im also getting used to the fat hifi sound of the reflex subs.

If you want weight go for reflex if you want loud go for scoops!

The sealed 12" are looking good still! Good luck with the project whatever you build!Thumbs Up

What's above your double 12? Straight to comps? I play a lot of deep house and garage so most of the weight and flow of the music is in the kick band. So a proper kick section is needed.

I think he may have meant 1.7KHz. At least I hope he did. Otherwise F1 would probably be making cabs with 12s behind axe heads.

Posted By: app

In the club where I play I manage to get good coverage of the space with the midtops. They are quite directional but its not strictly negative thing. The club has 2 different spaces and because the midtops are directional theres not sound spilling to the other space which has the bar.

This means that people can talk in the bar and listen to music in the main "hall". Instead of getting the sound allover the place. They can cover a decent area when setup the right way. They sound good too since they have no crossover and its all paper making the sound.

edit. Aka. they have good directional control LOL

nope, Fane 12 250 TC is a real full range driver with a novel whizzer cone design. It has been throughly discussed in this thread:

Doesn't some one do a dual co-axial 2"/1" device for a 2" horn, I think Void rigged some to Air10 boxes for an install I did the wiring on, a 2" shut down @ 6K5Hz with a 1" punched in from 5KHz would keep your look and also kick ass...

Failing that get some Turbo V2 devices and slam a couple of 1" driver in, that would punch and extend well..

Yes, but having to do so every time one has to refit a driver adds up in time spent on something rubbish. There are many things that are worth standardizing, mounting holes are one, the metric system and imperial system is another.. LOL

How low can you get those sealed 12MB cabs to? Considering not porting my new 2x12MB cabs.

Posted By: cookie-dj
Date Posted: 19 October 2015 at 10:41am
Lower end response isn't great, due to its sealed config. I don't intend to use them without my mini's.
But they play midrange beautifully!! They can be crossed a little lower and EQ'd for an OK kick, but it can take away the smooth vocal range if there is a big Q on eq in the kick freq band and the track is kicking away.

I didn't even model these ones dub. Just sent the plans over. I do have a few sketchup models though. I picked it up fairly quickly man. Around 2 hours and I had the gist of it, well enough to do basic 3d models anyway.
I modelled those mids you built for me in about 20 mins...
Just watched some YouTube vids on how to model a basic speaker box and went from there.

I had four HD215s and a pair of MT102 mid sections with no handles, they were in and out of different venues pretty much every weekend for five years, normally shifting them on my own and my back is as strong as ever, if you know how to lift properly you'll be fine. Update.

I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. Quick question for my fellow members...
For my mini scoops and Tham 12 I was going to go down second hand amp route rather than new due to funds. I want 1 amp to either power my mini scoops in 4ohm bridge or tham 12 8ohm stereo.
Was thinking along QSC RMX1850 HD lines due to its 4ohm bridge capability? Or would there be something better used £250 max?

considering it to use [with a low driver and a comp of course] for a small 2x8" mid for monitor/small rig
main speakers at some point as i have a friend after ideas and they would fit the bill nicely, either that or the beyma 10" dual cone thingy with a small bullet and a 15 but the 8s are a contender.

I am ordering a HUGE amount tomorrow after coming into a considerable amount of money. Consisting of all remaining required drivers for both systems, led moving heads, dmx controller etc.

My Tham 12 are being treated to a pair of PD123C01
8+1 is being loaded with Fane Sov 8 with the 18sound 1" comp ready mounted onto the horn

The 2 remaining Fane 12MB required for the double sealed 12" on the bigger system

Yes I'm going to say it, I'm ordering an iNuke 6000 to complete my amp list. Heard them myself and seriously cannot fault them.

downscale?

I have 2x sound systems as pictured above. The MS46 system and the Tham 12 with 8+1 system

The P-Audio BMD750 comp is pretty good. Not class leading sparkle - as expected. But does the job very well.

I wanted 2x systems for small and large events

Drivers dry fitted. They look really good! I'm going to grill foam the 8" drivers and leave the horn exposed.

On another note, a DMX controller for my new LED moving heads, LED mirror ball effect and LED mega bar.
I was going to get a USB DMX interface and Show Magic but I'm not able to change light programs whilst I'm using Traktor.

Clearly you haven't played in a club and then you accidentally click out of Traktor trying to mess with something on the laptop mid set
Never taking that risk again!

I found when i built my tham12 i forgot the extra 3mm in the plans it says to add if youre using a PD driver... that may be why its VERY snug!

That's what i had in mind.

I think the 123C01 is the 12SB30 replacement. Testing will be on Saturday

Yeah.. near identical specs!

And i had to carve out a notch into the side of my tham a s the pd doesnt fit in it on standard width.

After looking at your tops iv pick up a very small pair of midtops by dare pro micro 4s.. pair of 4inch drivers and a comp... about 100w a pop with bugger all about sesensitivity. But look small and wrll made enough to handle light work.

Small system is now complete - with a massive help from Dub Specialist Sound Thumbs Up

Those PD123C01 drivers ROCK in the Tham 12 Approve  one per side of an iNuke 6000 (which has also impressed/surprised me again)

Serious sound from such tiny little boxes its crazy

The bass was clear as day, was too much for the little phone mic! Nuke

Will be even better once top hats are mounted to seal the box
