Hey guys,

I'm looking for some help in building an enclosure for my car. It doesn'thave much room ddimensions are 16×16×35.

It is just for pure SPL, I want to try it in a 60hz burst at a car show coming up and I thought that someone here would have a good design or idea on a horn or scoop that really peaks and blasts out the 60hz notes?

I seen a guy try it in an astrovan several years back with a pair of cerwin Vega stroker pro 18's.

I've got a wack load of woofers kicking around.. 3 pairs of 8's, 1 pair of 10's, 3 pairs of 12's, and 3 15's

im guessing those dimensions are inches and what make are the drivers. cant just stick any driver into a program without knowing its parameters

Another set of dimensions are 14" ×17" ×42"

Either of those two will work. Changes a little depending where the enclosure will sit.

I'm not sure how big a horn or scoop is for a single 15" or single 12".. Hoping I have enough room

Bill Fitzmaurice does a horn for an 8" driver called the Auto Tuba. Should bring a lot more SPL than a reflex box.

Never heared it though.

The correct frequency for SPL is the resonant frequency of the car interior, it will be much higher than 60hz.

Build your system for sound quality, then use (switchable) EQ at the resonant frequency.

The highest frequency allowed is 60hz. So I might as well tune the enclosure to that frequency

Dimensions in mm if it helps any..

1st box
710mm × 480mm × 330mm

2nd box
1060mm × 430 × 355mm

Again I'm looking for a box that basically has its peak around 60hz and I can use 8's 10's 12's or 15's.. I'll try anything just give me some prints and I'll build it!!

I made a 10 inch band pass sub for my car tuned under 60hz. The box is only 2 cubic feet. You need to design those for your driver though. I don't fancy dropping in random drivers and hoping for the best. At the very least you need to sim a driver replacement to see if it will function.

Seriously, if it is all about lower than 60 hz and it a competition, to me that screams bandpass sub. You can not make a bass horn in the small size. The band pass is not a surgical instrument. It is a blunt weapon. Effective though. Not too hard to build either.
