Hello everyone,

I have a pair of CHEAP 12" (300watt) speaker which are not used. Since a month I have a new workspace in an empty "warehouse" so I can play music very loud Big smile

I am looking to build a (single) bass speaker. I've build lots of crap earlier but now I have acces to a cnc mill and table saw etc.

I was looking to the HD215 speakers and was thinking if this is available for 12" (or can I just scale it down)

Does anyone have other ideas. In the link down here are the specs.

You want a horn or would you consider reflex too?

Since the space where I'm going to use it is pretty big I think I want to build a horn. But this project is also more a building practice.

No I've scaled down a USB bass bin so it fits two 12" speakers. I'll try to upload a picture

I'm new to sketchup since yesterday, but worked this out. It's based on a USB Bass Bin.

Normally there are two angles in the horn mouth, since the scaling made it impossible to fit the driver in depth I added a slightly wider piece and made it a bit deeper and wider.

To be honest I don't know anything about doing calculations.... so not sure how this wil influence it's sound.

You will lose loads of low bass scaling down a USB.
why not have a go at an MTH30 and just build a pair of them, side by side and corner load them. Iv had good results doing this in smaller rooms and medium halls.

....of try your hand at a tapped horn like the THAM12. A few more angle cuts required but you get a smaller box and is a bit more forgivable on the driver used.

Hi,

Thanks for your advice. I've already had them inside two MTH30 and have one THAM10 which sounded really weird. (tested with two different drivers.)

I saw this one on the forum but didn't find any plans for it.

I play a lot of dub/reggae so I think it's a suitable build.

Seems to work well with higher QTS drivers.
