Is disrupting the surface and symmetry of internal baffles worth while in trapezoidal ply cabinets?

Not really in my opinion, you'll get much more effective results by adding the right amount of damping material to them for your design.

All baffles are painted with bitumen but only up to about 1mm thick. Should I increase thickness? Cabinets are fairly rigid.

It'll definitely add mass and dampen panel vibrations, might not be as effective as rockwool/polyester style stuffing at damping standing waves.

What's the cabinet? Impedance plots are easy to take and a strong tool for spotting resonances that could use more damping plus monitoring the relative effect of changes you make. Ultimately your ears will tell you too.

22mm birch ply front n rears. 12mm sides. Narrow trapezoidal column speakers each with 6 full range drivers. Have polyester stuffing and a box of adhesive bitumen tiles that I'm dithering on adding.
Had been told asymmetrical tiling of baffles was advantageous. This is first set of speakers I've tried to build and ain't expecting miracles but hoping to pick up as many tips as possible for future projects.

Internal cross bracing best - Opposing forces cancel out for additional stiffness. Also breaks up standing waves if block enough area (must not block too much or impedance differences between chambers causes issues)

Mass is good to lower panel resonances and increase damping. Bitumen is no help unless used as constrained layer damping. Better to swap for airborne damping (ie, rock wool)

Trapezoidal only helps if all the above are done, effects are very minimal at this point and difficult to measure.
