Llo all, I'm pretty new on the forum. So i'm just gonne ask my question and see if there comes an anwser  I want to build two 2-way top speakers. Why, you say? I was lucky to find myself 2 RCF N980 drivers with EV HP94 horns and i want to make good use of them  And, I also like a good challenge. They will be used as FOH for my coussins rock band. At the start accompanied by 2 mackie SRM1800 Subs, but i would like to build 4 new subs afterwards. Here are my first questions. - How to determin what mid drivers to use (branche? 10",12",... ? Power? 1 or 2?) - How to calculate the volume of the speaker (I would like them not to big for transport reasons) - Whats the best way to determin the crossover freq. (I have a DriverackPA with RTA mic at my disposal for testing ) - Should i go for passieve or active filtering. As you see, i've got tons of questions. I will be drawing the speakers in 3D Inventor. Not only the sound matters  I hope you guys can help me along the way with this project. that's a very nice 2" comp you've got there to start with I would either go with a 15" driver or maybe twin 12" drivers as these would be better to keep up with 4 subs you plan on building later ,always better to have a plan and build once there are plans for x15 and x12 on the site which would give you a starting point ,also RCF, B&C and 18SOUND ,all list plans on there sites which might help get an idea of what you want to build then you can use winsd or bassbox to simulate your chosen driver/s in the design you like or one you designed from scratch you could probably cross the RCF N980 over at between 800-1200 hz and crossover actively

Thx for the info krazyneil. I think i will go for 2 x Beyma 12G40 drivers. The sensitivity of the N-980 is pretty hi, i hope the 12" drivers can keep up :p Now to look for a nice model to copy.
