I used to have two Proline 3000 amps to power my subs and I only used them once and they were good, but I sold them and bought RMX4050HD amps. I power my subs one per channel and my subs are custom made EV QRX218 copies with RCF L18P300 drivers. People go on about how the huge transformers in Chinese amps make them brilliant for subs and that they're only really let down by their reliability.

Has anyone tested out the RMX4050HD alongside Chinese amps with similar power to see just how much difference in sub bass there is spl wise? I mean for example an SAE CA18 vs RMX4050HD, obviously the SAE is more powerful but the difference is negligible where wats are concerned.

Hopefully you do not have anything against Chinese Amplifiers for the QSC RMX Series is made in China.

Best Regards,

But it's plainly obvious I did because my original post stated RMX4050HD against something like an SAE CA18. I guess i'm wasting my time.

I've heard the Chinese CA copies and they didn't sound to bad compared the the originals, however what really concerns me is the clipping circuits, we all know what the Proline can do to drivers, I was tempted to buy some copies but if they turn out to be like the Proline then it's wasted cash in my book, there are so many cheepish Chinese amps about now and I'm sure some are very good but finding out which ones is a bit of a mine field.

One SAE PQM13 type of amp can do same job as two QSC RMX4050HD driving one double 18 per channel.

I have a couple of CA-18 copies that do very much what the old Crests do when clipped, ie very soft clip without any distortion. I bought them over 10 years ago and never have had any problems. Needless to say, I´m very happy with them.

To add my opinion too I still own a CA20 soundstanded SAE , and rate it still along side the original crests tbh, running 6xb at times and 4x 50s without any problem at all (mk1 versions , not the mk2 waterdown ones) had it running flat out too in the Summer running 4x scoops 1850s and BnC no probz

got it up to clip too, that's the only thing that worried me tbh can it be a good as Oringal Creast CA/001 pro series I doubted it

but tbh its been a great amp without any problems....well pleased tbh over the years with it...
