I have built a RCF Club 15, loaded with MB15ND501 and a ND650 horn.
RCF Club 15 In your opinion, the RCF MB15ND501 could be suitable for this application? The woofer is brand new and I don' t know if I get poor low end because it is new or because is not the right one. Thanks. Ivan. https://youtu.be/S8sT_gFbARU |

The recommended driver for the Club 15 is RCF L15P540 which is a low frequency driver - the "L" in the model number indicates that. I'm not familiar with the MB15ND501 but the "MB" in the model number indicates that it is a mid-bass driver. So if you want to use this box full range then the MB15ND501 is the wrong driver, though it would probably work ok if used as a mid-top with a sub under it.

Thanks for the answer!
I see that this cab needs a 6 Db boost on 60hz. I thought that this was a waste of amp dynamic. Also, the low Power version of this project is equipped with l15l530, which is not a proper woofer. RCF uses the mb15nd501 in the ART425A... |

It's not an off the shelf driver, so unless you can provide a datasheet with the TS parameters, we probably can't give you any hard info. Other than it having been used in a discontinued product, do you have any more info on it please? Cheers, David.

OK, would have been better to say that in your first post instead of using a different model number. It models well enough in what I can guess the cab volume and tuning to be (85l tuned to about 45Hz) - it should have -3dB about 57Hz and -6dB about 45Hz, so pretty respectable for a 15" 2 way. I assume that's without putting in any EQ to the low end? Your video doesn't sound badly lacking in bass, so I don't think there's a problem. If you want to be sure, getting any of the measurement programs like REW and doing proper measurements (outdoors, on the ground, well away from any structures that would cause reflections) would be the best way of finding out for sure. Good luck, David.

Thanks for your answer.
Now the woofer sounds better: after a copule of hours of burn-in, he sound is more fat and full in the low region. What kind of eq I should use on the bass, without sacrifing amplifier power? In the video I was applying some bass eq, I think 3 or 4 db 2 octave at 60 hz. It's ok doing this? Ivan. |
