The 18Sound NSD drivers are very nice. I've only tried the 2.5" diaphragm version but there is a noticeable difference in the top end.

The new 18-sound drivers do look nice, but according to 18-sound they are not to use that low.
I've ordered an RCF ND-950 1.4, I'll keep you updated about the results. Regarding the other topic about the 4595, pricewise it probably is a but to much this time a year

So yesterday was testing day, but despite the rain I had to go inside. Yet again these measurements took place in a (to) small room, so the results aren't reliable. Also a side note, I'm totally a rookie when it comes to measuring
-Used amplifier whas Crown Itech-8000 -ND950 1.4 on the 18sound XR1464 With one PEQ applied around 10k: I used the IR window function to get rid of the worst reflections. Measured response without the PEQ looks almost the same as the specsheet Hopefully the weather will be a bit better next week |

Also something thats has to get done...
Because the driver weighs more then the previous 4554, i need to make a bracket to support the horn/driver. From preventing that there is to much stress on the woodwork on the front. fortunately a mate of mine knows his ways around metal, an can probably manufacture something for me

That looks like a good combo. Did you test any further with it?
And if so, what do you think of the driver? (I know its the 2.0" exit model).

Thanks. looks like it covers quite a wide bandpass, it goes quite high AND low. I wonder if the small room could have lifted response under 800 hz, but seems a little high for room gained bass… has anyone experience with both 18sound xr1464 and xt1464 horns? Xr1464 seems to be less used than the xt1464, which costs nothing and gets praised a lot (I use it and like it). |
