The free one is only octave resolution. The Allen & Heath Realtime Analyser is also free and does 1/3 octave. |

Have to be very careful with software licensing here! Just had a very quick look at TrueRTA (1 octave) which seems ok but I would need 1/3 octave resolution minimum. I also had a look at the A&H RTA but it doesn’t seem to like Windows 7... unless I’m over looking something? If not I might have to buy TrueRTA or explore the Linux route. |

TrueRTA sounds ideal for you. the first basic modes of measurements are free which i feel should cover what you trying to do. I not sure if they have it in UK but its quite popular here in states. Click here for link respeks |

According to me EquityRider is an advanced software. This software will Monitor your portfolio for BUY/SELL signals on your criteria. It allows you to create custom indicators, derive indicators based on standard ones, and plot them on charts Real-Time.

not seen much on open-source options in this thread....?
you might like to look at: http://sourceforge.net/projects/brp-pacu/ runs on both Linux and MAC OSX although flagged as a beta development, it works well here on some older PC Hardware with Linux, although users need to know how to compile it. also it's a bit difficult to find as 'Google' searches for it return nothing Mik |

....did see that, Cravings, but you indicated you hadn't tried it
I have this software running using an M-Audio Audiophile 24/96 PCI card on the analog Line in/out's, so it's fair to assume that any other full duplex card/adapter with the same or better spec will also work, so long as it is supported. A minor downside is the need for an additional external Mic Preamp with phantom power. I also would like to try the external unit suggested on the BRP_PACU website, or one of the RME or other 'high-end' ones perhaps? - one day if I can ever afford it Mik |

I haven't run direct comparisons as you ask, don't have any Window$ loaded PC's here at all, but so far this software package seems to do what I want for the project I have in hand.
Still getting to grips with all of the functions and just beginning to start to compile a 'wish list' for additions/improvements given it's Beta development status. Mik |

yeah. i don't have any windows either. but i'd consider running a laptop with windows / smaart for a bit just to get a feel for it. i hope to get moving on this soon, would like to start using brp... i get the feeling the developer might like to know other people are using it or intending to.
