Hi guys,

I am currently in the process of building two X1's to serve as my sub bass cabs.

I am now looking for a design for a kick / mid bass cab, which I can start building after the completion of my X1's.

My thought is that these kick cabs will cover from 100hz to 200hz or thereabouts.

The finished system will be used to play dance music of all era's and genres, so I'm after a design that will sound great and perform well within this frequency band.

Does anyone have any recommendations for designs I should look at and, if so, for any drivers that would work well in any of the cabs?

Or if anyone has advice on different angles to take altogether, that would also be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

A decent 12" 2-way box will keep up with a couple of X1s.

If you're planning on building something much larger in the future (say, 8x X1) then it's worth thinking about a dedicated 80-300Hz cabinet, but if not, I'd strongly recommend keeping it simple.

Hi Chris, thanks for your reply.

Yes I am planning on expanding the rig later on, do you have any recommendations for the kind of dedicated cabs you mention? Would be very interested, if only to have a look at some. Many thanks.

Which non reflex cabinet, were you suggesting, that will do 80-300hz, flat ?

I don't think I ever suggested it'd be not-direct-radiating.  My preference is direct-radiating.

However, if I wanted something horn-loaded, I'd probably set off with something like the Nexo Alpha B1 unit, and design from there.

If you are uk based, get soundgear orbits, no-brainer! They are becoming common enough to be able to crossrent or "link up" with others.
