Just got four empty sub cabs this week and trying to find some drivers to go in them.

It's Master Audio MD-181BP 6th order bandpass boxes.
Rather compact trap design.


Any good ideas what drivers could be fun? I am going to take measurements of a box and ports to try and sim something, but would be good to have something to start out with.

What was the original driver in it ? I always looked at a lot of second hand master audio / amate for sale on sites like kinx and wondered what it was like. Was it a Beyma in there originally?

Don't know. They came unloaded. 
But I know they have used Beyma in other MD series boxes, and in the later years they have been using 18sound in the active models.

But it needs to be a driver that works well in compact enclosures. Not that many liters in each chamber Smile

What is your budget? Also, do you have a oppertunity to do a impedance sweep to find out tuning (with any 18 driver you have laying around)? That way the real tuning of both chambers can be found. Just simulating based on dimensions will 99% not give you the correct data.

Budget would be max 2000 Euro for four new drivers.

I could do a sweep in a couple of weeks. Sounds like that will be the correct way to do it Smile

After some waiting I finally got a answer from Amata Audio. 

They do not have the original driver in stock anymore, but the direct replacement is. No brand mentioned, but they call it 18LW2400.

Smells like a 18sound 18LW2400 Wink
And they want 220€ a pcs. Thats cheap if it really is the same driver!

Think I'm gonna go for four of them. No-brainer.
