I saw in one of the comments the Squire bins were "smaller" than the EV eliminators. What are the dimentions on the Squire cabs?

The "full sized" Ev eliminator w-bin is 24x 24x 36 inchs tall,if i remember the Squires was around 20x 20x 30" high,so its about 20% smaller.....Squires re-named the later cabs as"mini-bin" !Smile

Thanks. So basically it's in-between the "full-size" E-V Eliminator, and the Fane W-bin. The squire looks to have fewer parts to contend with and simpler to build than the E-V cab, which I've built MANY of since the 70's in high school. my ex-wife got the last set that was hooked up to the home theater system.

These EV's then...

Would it be worth bunging a pair of Fane Collosus in ?

If you want to 'modernise', I'd bung a new set of drivers in, if you want to be anal about it, I'd run some hornresp on it, either way I'd take out the comps/piezos...

If it's not made well or of good material, i'd burn it, bin it, or sell it to a collector.

Yeah I was definately going to rip out the comps/piezo's.The cabs are in pretty good original nick tho'-nice ply and can be had for a song. All the original drivers are working, but I'll probably find other uses for them.If I get them I'll be fitting speakons and beefier drivers but I take your point about hornresp.Cheers!

Of the better sounding w-bins of the period, who remembers the Orange ones?...same size as the Electrovoice, and also available with the same EV 15L driver...these sounded really good if used in pairs.....Froggy had a pair of those with some early Gauss drivers in,really kicked.

Ian! you're picture collection never fails to amase me! is there any bit of equipment you don't have a picture of? Clap

Yep i remember that? was only squires that could afford a nice glossy book at the time (prob... cos all the big boys chipped in to get their gear in it) I remember tracking over to their shop (by bus) and being amased at the amount of stuff in what was once a house!

many years later I had a pair of squire minibins but loaded them with a 12" gauss driver! they sounded the nut's but the chipboard fell apart after a few years!

I ended up buying those EV bins after for £20...opened 'em up to find two H&H 1500 series 250 watt drivers in perfect nick-great for the monitors I am building. Piezo's are Motorola, comps are Skytec so I dont think any of the drivers are original LOL! All in good working order tho'-what I'm really happy about is that all the cabs are in beautiful smooth faultless ply (apart from the rear access panels which are chipboard)...the oem crossovers are in there too.
Just looking to bang a pair of 500+ watt drivers in 'em now- they sound OK with the H&H's in, bassy and nice for kick but a bit gutless at shifting air at the moment...
Thing is I could'nt buy the ply to build these for what I paid- I think reclaiming and upgrading old kit like this is a bit of fun and you can end up with a bit of a bargain...
Any ideas about what I can do with all these Piezo's? Not really a fan of them but now I have about 6 different pairs cluttering up the house...not worth a peanut really but I'm too much of a git to bin them...rather give 'em away.
