I just found this in my bookmarks, a proper 'mini' 70hz W-bin for the EV-DL10X, a curiosity for most of you but nice to have in the plans folder.

That IS a theatre horn though, by the looks of it it is around 600mm square, with a 4" diaphragm/2" exit JBL they can be crossed(and usually are in full size cinemas) at 500hz, sometimes lower. The 2241 is apparently ok to 500hz on its own anyway.

Never criticise another man until you've walked a mile in his shoes. Once you have, call him what you like, you're a mile away and you've got his shoes!

500hz-600hz on a scoop is still quite absurd in my humble opinion. Think! A simple HR will show you the raggedness up there. It's what I used to do Embarrassed.

Don't think of them as scoops/bass bins. You CAN use anything above it's designed bandwidth. If a rear loaded horn was so horrible, better tell all those single driver hi-fi blokes with rear horn loaded lowthers etc ;)

Haha.

I am one of those blokes.

The secret with those is that they are really not horns per se. The horn disengages after a certain frequency (tline action), and it's driver response from then up.

If you model one using the mathcad sheets, FR is pretty good.

The JBL scoop works slightly differently, but higher up isn't that pretty - trust me.
