Glad to hear FFA did it for you. We swapped back to Tubbys, preferred the sound/weight. It's all subjective really.

[QUOTE=levyte357-] Present at Reggae gig yesterday, where 4x 18" 1850 Scoops, totally outplayed 4x FK1 24" Folded Horns. FK1 subs had virtually nothing below 60hz. And what was your verdict on Kutty's set up as you've skipped round that part or maybe Kutty may give us his input of the evening. Lev would you say its clear that a scoop is more efficient over a double (Argument done to death)loaded cab and that QSS should have brought 4 doubles as oppose to 3 and leave mids & tops as they were? Not for me to comment on what a man should have brought. And I've not skipped around anything, title of thread was Scoops vs Folded Horns. If someone wants to start thread, so they can slag off another person's system by name feel free.

Couple things I will say about the Qualitex System from last Sat.
It may not have been as potent on the night with Dub as the Scoop system, but the sub still had plenty of pressure, and notes. Mid tops/Mic section for the whole night was plenty, and pretty much perfect. A prominent London sound dude I know, who has both Scoops and Tapped horns, and plays approx 3x trucks at carnival said, Ren's Scoops system had heaviest bassline on the night, but big promoters looking for system to do Bashment, Soca, RnB dance, for 3000 ppl, £25 a head, would take 2x stacks of Kutty's system, and it looked professional enough, for any venue. Had to agree, as many promoters will pay £1500 for decent sounding PA system, and not Interested in Scoops, no matter how heavy they play. Edited by levyte357- - 24 October 2018 at 10:41am |

Good night for Londoners, but only 5-11pm, no alcohol on sale, so not full on rave.

Apologies, if I came across bit tactless, direct.. Mancunian blood.. There's a whole heap a politics flying around down south about this, and couple man looking to escalate things, so I have to be careful about what is said on internet. If Kutty had brought 4x Redeye Scoops, powered by X8, result would have been different, but the point was to showcase more modern system, which will make him more money than Scoops, in terms of sales and high profile gigs. So even though some people will say Crest 10001 and 4x 1850s system killed Powersoft and 6x sub drivers last week, 4x Scoop system will struggle to bring in £500 for a gig, where as I'm sure Promoter would pay upto £500-£750, for what Kutty brought last Sat. Purely for presentation and sound quality.

yes guilty as charged my lords - I have used the F124's with great success and used them for work with Jah Shaka and Johnny Clarke on my festival gigs. My host wanted to try the subs out and i was interested in seeing how these would perform in this situation. We struggled to get any pressure out of them or certainly any power down the room. There was a tight beam of bass but i could not get it to spread out. I lost an amp channel at set up due to some cabling issues which was a school boy error on my part. We then had to run half the dance running at 1 Ohm on the remaining working channel until a rescue unit arrived with a friend who was coming along. It was great to see all the faces that used to go to Golden Palace and have a venue again for sounds to play out like this. APS sub was very nice and all round the music was excellent. Good to see QSS travelling so far and giving a tight performance. Great to see Gavin all the way from Preston too.
