like I said some time back , it's going to get harder to given out free plans cause of greed , some poeple are just minting money from others hard work , look at this site selling copies and freeplans without letting the designers know .

Often see muppets on ebay selling plans that are quite freely available on the web...was one the other day selling 50-year old 4560 plans. Why? LOL

Where is the line here?

This forum is full of people who build speakers based on free plans, hire them out and then, later on, sell them. They build a business based on these free plans. 

What about the members that make flatpacks? If I put a post here stating I was in the UK and needed someone to make some flatpack punishers, I bet a bunch of people would offer to help out ... at a cost. 

Is building a speaker based on a plan, then selling it really that different?

Maybe there is something I'm missing. 

Selling free plans as if they are your own is another thing, obviously ripping people off. 

(I have never personally sold a cab I built)

i think (with the examples given), both walt and staiper both said the plans were 100% out there to do with what you will. (hog and punisher designers). i doubt 18 sound would be that bothered, particularly as that plan is being sold by someone recommending and selling the eighteensound product it's related to.

whereas rog did ask (and it says on the speakerplans plans) not to build more than 4 of any plan without applying for a build license.

I saw it cause he has Ricci TH there , I know about some of the designs that one could build as they want , I put this up cause someone asked me for me plans and i said no , some people exploit others ,

tbh on both sides of this

really when you think about it many many boxes are the Orinial design by a few ,

rest of mostly copies imho , then builders get away with this panel not the same of this plan that plan ect, all balls that is its pretty much the same really..just being techinal with it

and even still you think some of the original builders , some of the boxes has devived form orther builders /designs ect

its bern happenens for donkeys years not a new thing tbh

also we in a day and age of sharing stuff on the internet so tbh this is gona happen wether we like it or not....what do we expect really if tha share things for free

i know of a builder who openly advertises selling builds of designs from this site without a license and just doesnt seem to think it matters

Whats the difference between hiring out a cab based on a free plan or selling one? Assuming you are transparent about it being a free plan.

Is the $1000 phone in my pocket that runs free, opensource software any different?

Am not here to judge you or others for hiring out , and your question is like asking me if you copy from the guy sitting next to you in class are you smart ? 
 with my system the subs are my design ,my kicks are designed in Denmark & i asked the guy if i could build them , andi use F1 res3sh tops , i don't sell and if i was to do so i'd share with the designer. But then again that's just me .
