To get the tops at the right height? ive heard of it being done alot to be honest, also loaded bins being stacked but not plugged in just to gain height. We do it alot in our venue when we hire F1, have 2x F221's a side, and a third on each stack turned off to get the height for the res5's ontop :)

Well the idea really is to provide what the people attending want. People seem to remember an event being louder if the stack is bigger. the rig as it was, was as loud as it needed to be (ie EXTREMELY) and there was a big enough pile of cabs for people to stack against... things seem to be different in scene around this area! ;)

The tops are far far to high away they would of been better off leaving them at home

I completly agree!! Its not uncommon at 'free partys' in my area but in my personal opinion. Size doesnt matter when it comes to soundsystems, quality does!! I would rather be infront of a small system run properly than a huge stack of 24 bass bins, of which 8 are unloaded and the rest all underpowered!! I understand the appeal but as i said its about sound quality not size when listening to a soundsystem. Recently we took 6 speakers out, 2 labsubs, 2 usbs & 2 void tops which was about 10 times louder / nicer sounding than the free party rig that was 3 times its size that was out the weekend before.

might not have drivers! chronic dont own all of them anyway, i believe that two other systems own some of the bins pictured.

at sensitize 4 were unpainted with no access pannels, not loaded no speakons etc. and 4 were there with the access pannels left off with no drivers in
