Been said on here that punishers don't need kick, that's why I asked.
Next question:
Indoors or out. If indoors how many people?

Punishers crossed at 100hz sound good :)
They can also be rolled up and down stairs or lifted into a vehicle by 1 person (but if you get back ache don't blame me

If you want deep sub, why are you even thinking about Punishers? |

They work well without kick.
Search some more, they really are a one bin solution if need be.
However, as Lev says....
Personally for outdoors I'd be making 1850's or similar.

Yeah I might be going down the wrong road, i'm after deep sub for playing outside, I like the idea of a small compact yet very loud solution, and from what I hear a stack of 4 or 6 punishers will go quite low, that's why i'm interested in this box, also the Ciare driver is rather cheap. 1850's would be an easier solution maybe, but would they go as low as a nice stack of punishers ??? Perhaps I would be better off putting X1's under HD215's ??? |

Some say X1's throw, some not.
Age old question, sub = scoop/reflex/bandpass. Outdoors = horn. To get sub from horn, need lots to couple. IF you have the skills to build punishers then try them, sell them if you don't like.
Difficult build IMHO.
Saul has 4 x Rhino's for sale

Punisher + X-tro combo has most professional look and feel out of any DIY sound system. They have just soooo much thought behind them.
I've understood Punishers sound more hifi than 1850 horn and drop slightly lower too. |

+1 on the look.
Sub is a funny word that needs to be defined. Dub style reggae or not.
I know of Dubstep nights done with 6 x USB that were fine, try that with reggae and you'll get laughed off.

Compared to most DIY subs punishers sound great. It is a very tight controlled sound, no wallowing muddy noise or one note honkiness. I have used them for every style of music I can name, including dubstep, drum & bass etc, and they faithfully reproduce whatever you put in. They may not play as low as some designs but as has been discussed on here many times before most music, even bass heavy music, has little content below 40hz, certainly nothing that the punters will miss if it's not there.
They are also a very neat package, small enough to handle easily, use a fairly cheap driver and are very efficient. They also take quite a lot of power if you have it available, but don't think you have to put the 1200 watts some people use into them, they still sound great with much less. The high efficiency could be very useful if you're doing free parties and don't have much mains available or are using generators. |

Id say 50 - 100Hz is the ideal low pass point, though i know some people run them higher,i think they go plenty low enough for dubstep and dnb, not quite as low as scoops but they sound tons better than any scoop ive ever heard, i dont think HDs are the best choice above punishers, i have both but and you can get them sounding good together, but your wasteing usable bandwidth on both cabs, the xtro kick section is better optomised to run above punishers.
