Need a Spectrum/Frequency  Analysing Software tool for Linux.

"Not" looking for something to be run under Wine or through VirtualBox.

Anyone found something decent ?

Needs to work with external soundcards with XLR I/O support.

have a look at BRP-PACU, available for download on Sourceforge.
Uses Jack so can interface with whatever sound-card you are using:
