Hehe nice!

Pics,video,info.

A few solar panels, a few deep cycle 12v batteries, and a wind generator, all set! Sounds like they link a few 12v batteries in series...not too much technical info but I like the concept.

cool, this is something i had asked about in feedback. i am looking into solar, wind and pedal power.. i def think your gonna need the veggie generator to keep things going tho'

have you seen this?

Perhaps a bit bigger in size and budget, but does the job well

Yeh It would take some large investment in solar panels,I think they just sorta trickle charge the batteries. If you were gonna be silly about loudness, youd have to have the motor running... 100w drawn from battery, ~10A will only last so long

My mates car with rockford 1kw Amplifier, stoped the car while idling alot,he punished two infinity kappa pro 10"s on 15L sealed each! Masochist!

i spent quite a lot of time last year looking at powering a rig with renewables. bloody hell solar panels are dear.  it was like £4 a watt.

im experimenting with a turbine at the moment. the plan would be to use a veg oil geny to fill the gap when their is no wind but need expensive gel batterys as they can handle being almost completly discharged. plus cables, control circuits, efficient 12 or 24v amps(im prity shure that its more efficient than using an invertor then rectifing it back to dc in an ac amp)

been desinging a push bike trailer with an car alternator geared up from an axle that the wheels are mounted on. the alternator is rated at some thing like 800w. cycling might be hard!! but we'll see. then a folded horn or bandpass lodded bass driver and not shure about mid/top solution get any ideas? and a 400 to 600w car amp.

i think for any sizeable rig its much easyer to just use a veg oil geny and ac amps.

desil engine with some mods, 20kv altenator, a few trips around the local take aways and some filtering and we'r rockin.

the ultimate for me would be  20k of solar, 20k of wind, 20k of back up veg oil geny, a hydrogen fule cell as an energy store and a big veg oil van to move it all oh plus the rig too, a solar/electric shower and i should stop before i want the world

billy,

take a look at this

http://www.baka.co.uk/rinky/index.html

I've heard it a few times, I was supprised how loud it is. looks great too, i love the horns made of junk, plastic pipe, paper mache etc, fits in with the eco theme. I'd like to build something similar, maybe with horns like these

These use a 8" driver with no rear chamber, and 4 were being used to play ambiance, so I didn't really get a good idea of the freq (or tonal) response, but maybe they could be altered to provide some deep bass.

Unfortunately I don't have enough space to store this project, as I think it could end up being huge.

hah thats cool!

With class D amplifiers, thesedays its much easier. The wind generators are decently powerful to recharge batteries, just a hassle physically.

Well ...!

I spent the "summer" 2000 in Aus travelling thru doing protests at Uranium mines etc etc with Labrats! Their little system was only 4 full-range boxes which they powered off of two car amps. Their main supply was from the caravan which had a false floor under which all the batteries were stored. Every time they hit camp , up would go the two turbines and the van would be positioned east-west to get the panels in line!
I helped `em a couple of times filtering the veggie oil..not the nicest job ..ladling hot chip fat from one oil drum to the other in the blazing desert heat but learnt loads about the do`s and don`t of running a van on veggie oil!

They sparked a lot of people to start doing the veggie oil conversions ( inc me!back here in blighty) and their never ending enthusiasm in the face of permanent state/ police hassle was an inspiration! The Gov`mnt over there didn`t take kindly to protesters showing the masses how to power their own vehicles and organise themselves against the CRIME that is uranium mining!

you can read a lot more on Earthdream from their site..
Earthdream

It was funny because on that tour I was lugging boxes / playing toons for Bedlam and Negusa Negast soundsystems ...so on one hand there was a solar rig running totally off of wind and sunshine...and then there was a huge pile of speakers which needed 3 gennys to run it! Bit of an oxymoron!
On the site have a look at some of Robins sculptures..I helped "plant" plane henge out there in the desert and am def` going back for 2012 to do it all again! What started as someones hairbrained idea in a party in Berlin back in the 80`s has turned into something that defies description...

I posted up on here about those clam-shell spkrs..saw `em at the South Bank festival last year and was v.impressed by how much bass they were pumping out! Not sure if they were running just battery power then but conceivably they could!

If anyones interested i`ve still got these for sale....
