the transient response was very quick, and not like any 18 I have ever listened to, so from that I would say they were 15's, ive read a few times about them being 15" loaded too....

Would be good, hearing 4x of these, playing Roots Reggae & Dub, against 4x top class scoops in GP, playing the same.

Would finally silence much hearsay & opinions, stated as fact.

i also think that the "soundman" world could learn someting from the "pa man world" ie things like acoustic physics but sometimes "incorrect" is right... by tis i mean a scoop for example exhibits certain types of distortion tat makes what comes out of the cab different from the signal sent to it BUT sometimes this is considered a good thing thats i guess why alot of these types of system use scoops
what im saying is we can all learn from eachother . i class myself more as a pa man myself and i personaly aim to get as close to the input signal as i can just louder with the output from the system but thats my personal thing i just believe that with a bit of "cross education" [ie bit of learning coupled with deciding whats important] bot sides could benefit from the others teachings, looking at volcanos system pics it could be splayd better etc this would creat a better sound yes from a technical view point maybey they like the distortion and other artifacts caused by the way its set up? [i would still prefer to use splay and proper lms] maybey we sould spend more time learning from our own and others mistakes and maybey reword our criticisms so they come across as advice rather than criticism??? and @ earthquake i think ginger was not saying that next time wont be better i think he was trying to say that actualy because tings didnt go well first time we can all learn and that means you probably WILL do better next time.
thanks for sharing everyone and @ lev how about 4/6 of amanos lab18 [with the slight mods i made] or even the meat grinder......... do you recon that could do the biz for this kind of event? if so i guess we should wait for me to pull my finger out and organise something but im thinking more of a subjective listening test than a proper competition with everyone trying to learn from and teach others, i regularly get told im apparantly a damn good sound tec...... i personaly think im average maybey just above but not by much i have alot to learn and maybey alot i could teach others tis is why this is by far my most visited website
anyway well done to all involved shame it didnt go to plan but that just means we can all learn for next time
peace and best wises to you all :_]

Well said Mark.

Void Stasy sub (I think that was) did well last time I've heard it in GP. So would be interesting to hear that modded lab18 against another horn design and probably 2 scoops design (full and mini) <img src="smileys/smiley20.gif" align="middle" />

It was a interesting night for me. Chance to see old and new faces again. I cancelled work came down early then left and came back near the end off night. It has given me the kick start to build quality working boxes again.

Good efforts from all sound participants. Very loud at times. Ebony with smallest held their own against the others.

Respect

I wanna thank all sounds for representing Soundoff. Last Sunday.
Also big thanks to all patrons who attended.
I was unfortunately unable to be involved in this particular months event as I was abroad , but I've been kept in the loop of events.

I have received different opinions of how sounds sounded.
All I can say on the matter is, it ain't easy bringing your system into a arena where most patrons are critics of how a sound is suppose to sound.
It would be beneficial for one to remember that it makes more sense to highlight a particular problem (AND SOLUTION) to the sound owner/engineer directly rather than just to a bedren or public forum.

We all have a part to play in this soundsystem culture and especially if we are paying patrons and believe this entitles one to have an opinion.
To me, this is the only way Soundoff can move forward on terms of sound quality as a whole.

It's difficult for me to review a sound who approaches us, who we no nothing of saying they want to enter. We don't know what their dealing with until they enter. Sounds that have been in before are not generally the problem.

No SOUNDCHECK next month.

A proper dance with:-
CHANNEL ONE,
JAH YOUTH &
BALLISTIC ROOTIKAL
will take its place!!!!

I heard on street, there's a few sounds that want to clash on Roots and Dub tip (not specials all night) LOL.

Is there possibility of organizing some of these, for a Sunday night?

Also heard some out of London sounds, want to dust up certain West London sound. Wink
