Looks like the plate that the fan is mounted to has no venting holes for the fan to allow the air to go in / out. Confused

That's it!

And they made a beautiful job crimping bootlace ferrules on the fan wires.
Totally solid metal plate.

Let's hope it was just a job they gave to the apprentice and just forgot to check his work.

Alto active speaker, reported fault: distorts if pushed.
